Customers are saying

Customers admire the 3.5 Cu. Ft. 9-Cycle Top-Loading Washer's cleaning performance, ease of use, and value for the price. Many appreciate its large capacity and the inclusion of an agitator. However, some customers find the washer noisy, particularly during the spin cycle, and have expressed concerns about the lid lock mechanism. A few also mentioned that the washer's interior is smaller than expected.

    Live for 6 weeks

Bought this machine to replace my 15 year old GE. I wanted old school and this was as close as I could get. The machine worked fine for the first 6 weeks then this morning it quit half way through the wash. I suspect it is a faulty lid lock. I have scheduled for GeekSquad to come check it out.....in a week! Hopefully, they can repair with little or no cost in addition to my service plan. Bring back old school washers with agitators and less electronics! Please.

This machine is driving us crazy. It does not seem to have automatic stop when it is off balance and making us think it is going to fly at this point it is so loud. We have to watch it like a hawk.

Easy to operate, all functionality is very straight forward. No fancy feature, but clothes are clean.

I took delivery of this washer (and dryer) on Friday Sept 1. The second load I did never fully spun out. The third load filled up and stopped. I called best buy and of course they said I had to call whirlpool. Whirlpool told me I have to wait until Sept 22 for repair. I told them I will just return it. It is something, products are made so poorly and the service, when needed, is even "poorer". I should have headed the negative reviews and bought something else! Best buy is picking this lemon up......

    Poor reliability

We bought the 3.4 cu ft version of this, the WTW4800XQ, back in March, 2011. It has just broken down for the 4th time in less than 3 years. First time was near the end of warranty, so I bought an extended service plan. Glad I did, cause the same problem (failed circuit board) occurred 10 months later, and again 9 months after that. Now the agitator barely turns in the wash cycle and it makes a relay clicking sound at each slight movement, so sounds like another electronic issue. The agitator works on other parts of the cycle. We are giving up on this Whirlpool and will sell it as soon as the repair is done. Going shopping for the replacement today.

I read up on washers and have used 5 times and it broke down and now no parts can be found to fix it. It stopped full of water and now will do nothing. I went on line to look at recent reviews and noticed washer is 170.00 cheaper and now I am mad. My last washer from Best buy lasted 10 years with no problems and this new one didn't even make 10 loads. They will not refund me any money and I sit now not knowing when a part will be available. Still on the phone I will see where this goes.. Good luck- may be worth it at the $170.00 off but.. Was told by service tech. to go with Frigidare for a quality washer and Best buy does not sell them...

    Worst machine ever

Where do I start? I really researched machines before buying this. When I got it, I started laundry immediately. It took over 15 minutes to fill. Then it took forever in between cycles. If you even have 2 jackets in it and they are balanced it will be totally off when it spins and nothing will help. Then it keeps on filling extra rinses, even if you don't want them. The light cycle took over 1 and a half hours and NOT because it cleaned so great. I had to return it. It was just the pits.

    Needed repair after 3 months

After three months of use the pump went out. Contacted Best Buy, purchased the extended warranty, and was told I would have to contact Whirlpool. Whirlpool came out and told us the pump and main control went out. The main control was not available, five to seven day wait. The service tech told us we were lucky to purchase the extended warranty because the pump on this model will go out again. Apparently the pump is installed upside down and any debris settles in the pump and will eventually ruin the pump.

worked for a week and a half , then quit , had to wait a week for service , service man came "fixed" it , and it lasted 1 load of wash before it quit again , another week of waiting for service , I bought this washer because the old one was 20 years old and it leaked a little , I wish I would have stayed with the old Kenmore and I would not have over 2 weeks of clothes ( family of 4 ) piled up , and a happier wife .. I very disappointed with this washer .....
