It seems like its the circuit board. It lights up, but just won't start. I would expect an appliance to last longer.

I should have kept my 10 year old washer with the agitator. This machine does NOT get my clothes clean. So disappointed in this. I wish I could add an agitator to this thing.

The price was amazing but you get what you pay for. Every dial was analog and not electronic. Spend the each 100 dollars to get touch controls and skip the old school turn dial.

Very happy with my new washer

I bought this washer together with the matching dryer during the 4th of July sales and so far I am very happy with it. It replaced an old agitator type Kenmore that came with the house, which I never liked, but lived with for 6 years. So far I am very happy with my choice. Our family has a very busy schedule. Both of us work full time and with two kids (one of which a teenager) it is difficult to find time to do the tons of laundry that we produce. With the large capacity of my new washer, the number of loads that I do weekly has reduced significantly. I arrange the clothes loosely around the middle of the wash basket and I still, am able to put a large amount of clothes for a single load. The washer uses less water and I think I noticed a decrease in my last water bill. I will yet have to monitor the bill to see if it was just temporary. I was surprised to read in a previous negative review that the customer has put items in the washer folded?! I am not sure how they expected the washer to unfold them. I like the simple and user-friendly screen. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and I hope the machine will last.

The machine makes lots of noise and does not level out clothing. It has a huge tub but don’t put to much because the washer will not balance and when it spins BAMM!! I ran to see and I had to turn the machine off! I thought maybe I should just place half the clothing!?!! That didn’t work either. I thought I had a deal but I have a huge problem with this washer. Really want to return the machine but the Best Buy I purchased it from is closed down.

Vern, Thank you for taking the time to write regarding your Washer. If your Washer is becoming off balance, we would recommend to check to make sure that it is level. We recommend when loading the Washer, to ball the clothing up slightly and place around the basket making sure not to cover the middle of the agitator. As items become tangled, they can make the washer sense an unbalanced load and this should help. WhirlpoolBrand

    Love this washer!

I waited a few weeks before writing this review. I absolutely love this washer. The inside is huge and easily fits a thick queen size comforter. It also fits a queen size quilt plus a set of queen sheets all in one load. I am now averaging only a couple of loads of laundry per week. It fits all of my laundry from one week into 1 load, although i obviously still do whites separately. I even washed my 104" long curtains with ease. One think I really find useful is that it has a timer on it, so you can see at any time how many minutes are remaining. It also allows you to see how many minutes it will take as you are making your setting choices so that if you are in a hurry, you can play with the settings to reduce the time. The end chime is very loud and I can hear it inside my house from any room even though the washer is in the garage. I wish I could hear the new dryer's chime when that went off, too!

Do not buy, I repeat do not buy, unless you want to buy a new washer 5 1/2 years later, like I had to do today 7-10-21. I never liked this washer from the start, it barely fills with water. Sometimes part of the clothes had dry spots, for sure blankets did all the time. Save your money and buy the old fashion ones with knobs.

Worst experience with this machine, after 1 year I had to replace the vibration control shock absorbers , I did it myself so it was just the parts, but the technicians wanted $300 for the fix, it smalls bad, my wife memes me throw this one away and get a new one after 14 months!

We've had this washer for just over 2 years and the control panel has failed us. We paid someone $450 to install a new one and after 1 wash, it too failed. The repairman came back and installed a control board and another control panel and had the same issue. This has been going on for over a month

    Read the Book

    Posted .

Held back one star only because I cannot speak to its reliability yet. This washer cleans very well using so little water you will wonder how it does it. But less water means concentrated cleaning, It has more than ample options and a Huge capacity. It is also fairly attractive and made in the US where parts are immediately available. But read the book, because if you are used to an old style washer you have a few things to learn. 1. Load washer with "loose heaps" of clothes and especially no folded items. This is repeated a dozen times in the book, yet I have read reviews that say a "folded item comes out still folded, so how can it get anything clean?" 2. Use HE detergent, NOT half as much regular detergent. HE detergent is similar to dish washing detergent- low sudsing. If you over suds the washer it may rinse twice, extending the cycle and flushing away your fabric softener in the first rinse. 3. Ignore the strange sounds. They are not loud but are certainly different- relays etc. 4. This washer is a computer. I used a surge protector on the plug. There is one item in the installation guide that most people do not read that looks important to me. It says to keep the packing material under the drum in place until the washer is within FOUR FEET of where it is going. So meet the delivery people in the parking lot and insist they follow those instructions. Download and print the installation guide if you want proof. I read one or two reviews stating the washer leaked. Makes me wonder if they removed the packing material then jostled the machine up 3 flights of stairs. So far, so good.

    Good machine with quirks

After many years of faithful service to a family with several kids, our washer’s life cycle came to an end. My wife entrusted me, the husband, with researching then replacing the washer. Since our mis-matched dryer also was ancient, we decided to buy new, matching appliances. Online research on several sites revealed opinions “all over the place” for all makes and models. Unlike buying a new car, one cannot “test drive” these appliances, as is true for buying a lawnmower, snow blower, or kitchen appliances. Customer reviews and recommendations are as much information as one can get. Our old washer and dryer were “ancient technology”: the washer had an agitator and simple knob controls. The gas dryer similarly was arrayed. I was in for a shock when I discovered that the newer appliances had microprocessors and corresponding multi-page instruction manuals, joining that cadre of appliances with a study requirement. First, the washer. (Also see my critique of the matching dryer on this site.) Having been advised by a sales person that the “government” is making water usage requirements, and would phase-out older-style agitator models, the two available options were high-efficiency top or front loading models. A top loading model was the only option in our laundry room space. Having visited several appliance stores, and in discussion with sales people, along with online research, I decided on the Whirlpool Cabrio line. After a month of usage, here are my impressions (for what they are worth). The washer and control panel look sleek. The flat panel controls beep for everything. Programming the washer (as opposed to turning a few knobs) elicits “beeping sounds” much like playing a video game. The instruction book mentions a way to silence these amusing (annoying) sounds. The installation requires a 4” clearance from the back wall, which is different from the 6” required for the dryer installation. An inch clearance on the sides also is recommended. This washer needs room for the “shake and bake” during its washing cycles. The tops of both the washer and dryer slightly slope toward the front. Objects placed on the washer and dryer (an iron) could slide off when the machine is in operation. The leveling legs do not allow for installation on a moderately sloped floor; shims may be necessary. There is no traditional agitator in this washer. If the correct spin cycle is not chosen, clothes can become tangled and wrinkled. There is no designated “permanent press” cycle. Consult the manual for advice. A dedicated “permanent press” control panel option would have been helpful. The plastic detergent slide-out tray, located in the rear, under the lid seems flimsy. At the beginning of the wash cycle, the lid locks. One cannot “peek” inside to check water level during the cycle, unless you press the “pause” button and wait for a while. Water filling seems to be on and off many times during the cycle. The machine makes some rather strange noises, but is not overly loud during the washing cycle. I haven’t noticed any improvement in cleaning over the ancient “agitator” model. Although I have my criticisms of this machine, I really cannot compare it to other similar machines. A friend in a similar need for a new machine purchased a Speed Queen washer with traditional agitator and controls. She says that there are no plastic parts, and that laundry marts use this brand for its reliability. One wonders how reliable these new high efficiency machines with complicated controls and sensors will be. Repairing so many complicated controls and systems could be costly.

After spending a lot of time looking at washers and customer reviews, we settled on the Cabrio. After only a few weeks of use, the washer won't fill and we keep getting the "LF" code (Long Fill). A Whirpool technician will be coming out next week but I am extremely disappointed the washer requires a service call so soon.
