Using High Efficiency (HE) detergent in these washers is highly recommended as they are designed to be quick-dispersing and operate in low water conditions by producing less suds, requiring less detergent. Not using the recommended detergent can lead to additional rinse cycles and increased water usage.)

An agitator is a column located in the center of the washing tub. It may be finned or vaned, and works to clean clothes by rotating and rubbing against clothes to break down stains. An impeller is a low-profile cone at the bottom of the tub that uses fins, cones, or discs to create motion. Whirlpool Cabrio 4.8 Cu. Ft. 26-Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer: This washer has a large capacity for washing more laundry in a single load and features a ColorLast option to help keep colors vibrant. Intuitive controls make it easier to choose the right level of care and cleaning for your clothes.

Laundry Buying Guide

  • Adapts to your load: Adaptive Wash technology uses sensors to determine the fabric type and soil conditions of each load. Then it automatically adjusts the water level and washing motions to provide the right care and cleaning for your clothes.
  • Large 4.8 cu. ft. capacity: Do more laundry in fewer loads. Wash 25 or more bath towels or a queen-sized comforter in a single load.
  • 26 wash cycles gives you more control: Lets you choose the best cycle for your load. Includes Normal, Presoak, ColorLast, Deep Water, Casuals, Whites, Delicates, Bulky/Sheets and more.
  • Help prevent colors from fading: Select the ColorLast option for a precise combination of washing actions, temperature and time that helps keep colors looking their best.
  • Choose the right water temperature for your clothes: Five temperature settings help you ensure the water will not be too hot for your fabrics or too cold for your detergent to work properly.
  • Vibration control keeps your washer quiet: Gap dampers and springs minimize movement of the wash drum during the spin cycle, so your normal household activities won't be interrupted by noise.
  • Top-load design: Lets you load and unload from a standing position. Plus, you can easily add forgotten items to the load once it's started.
  • LED display with intuitive touch controls: LED display panel stores recent settings, shows time remaining during cycles, and offers "What to Wash" and "How to Wash" options so you can tailor wash cycles to meet your needs.
  • Low-profile impeller provides thorough yet gentle cleaning: The impeller's seamless surface and unique vanes drive clothes from the outer rim to the center of the wash drum, where the deepest cleaning happens.
  • Smooth Wave stainless steel wash drum: Helps protect fabrics from fraying and snags.

Q: Can you use just the spin cycle alone?

A: Try this method " select the RINSE/DRAIN & SPIN cycle and deselect the EXTRA RINSE option. In this case it cancels ALL rinsing for the cycle. This is how you get a spin-only cycle."

Q: Can it wash Queen comforters?

A: yes, i have washed a ralph lauren king comforter and had no issues, great product

Q: Is it quiet to run

A: Yes it's quiet. Right out of the box it was loud which worried me at first. We had to adjust the legs a few times to balance the washing machine on our floor - once we did that it was VERY quiet. We hardly hear it now even when the laundry door is open.

Q: My load of sheets for a big mushroom shaped ball and often gets of balance...sheets are a big tangled mess...anyone else have this problem?

A: It makes a huge difference to separate the sheets as you load them in. Put the larger items like a duvet cover, fitted sheet, and top sheet, one by one on the bottom, then you can just throw in all the other pillowcases and covers on top. We wash our sheets once a week with no problems since we discovered this (after I threw everything in as one big ball the first time like I could on our old machine). It seems inconvenient to put them in individually, but I think it has actually improved how our white sheets turn out after a cycle. It comes out as a ring that's easy to just toss in the dryer too.

Q: Can you use Tide pods ok? Thanks.

A: Pods may be used with two qualifications: 1 put them in the drum - not the detergent dispenser 2 use only high efficiency (he) pods

Q: Can you set the water level?

A: The water level is set by sensor. This saves water but extends the wash time without using more electricity. I asked about this earlier this week when I scheduled a repair tech unnecessarily because I was wondering the same thing and had neglected to ask the Preventative Maintenance tech who'd come by a week earlier. You can also choose the deep water setting for bulky items that weigh less but occupy greater volume like comforters.

Q: Locking Lid

A: Not to my knowledge. But if you hit stop it will unlock quickly and you can start from where you left off.

Q: Will a King Size comforter fit in the washer?

A: Yes, we washed several King Size comforters, among them a very heavy brocade King Size comforter. It worked well :)
