Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the deep gameplay, touching story, and immersive world of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, often praising the game's music as well. However, some find the voice acting and battle system to be challenging, while others point to occasional performance and resolution issues, particularly in handheld mode. The map's usability is also a source of some frustration for players.

If this is your first JRPG, I highly recommend it. The story is really good and the combat system evolves along with you the more time you put in.This game might not be like Zelda or Mario Odyssey but it does deserve to be on your switch. You won't be disappointed in the story aspect of the game.

The Reason I bought a Switch!

The game is nearly perfect, sadly the only real flaw I can point out is the resolution being terrible! The textures and colors though are truly amazing and better than any switch rpg I have seen to date. The characters and voice dub is awesome, morag's accent and nia's jokes are funny while Pyra is the waifu of waifu's some say Mythra is better but nah her power maybe but not personality. The main boy is Rex and he is like an anime hero but only sometimes says something silly like the power of friendship lol. Finally the combat is epic there are powers explosions and button presses to get perfect attacks and combos its so involving. The blades you collect look so great except a couple of them but overall this is the game I spent most time on and give it a 95/100

This game is totally worth the wait. Truly a fun and exciting game. If you played the first one on the Wii, you will LOVE this one. The exploration of the game and combat system is truly flawless. Really in great comparison to Zelda BOTW. Highly recommend!

An Amazing RPG with Great Story and Characters

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has cemented itself as one of my favorite video games of all time. The story, characters, world, battle system (I can go on and on) are all top quality and are a joy to invest time in. I did not expect to enjoy this game as much as I did because of the complex battle system, but after investing a few hours of studying and practicing, it became second nature linking all of the combos. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy games with an emphasis on story and character development.

One of the best JRPGs you can get on the Switch

+ The combat system is surprisingly deep + The story, while nothing award-winning, keeps you hooked + The characters are interesting to watch + The world is expansive & dense + There's a lot to do in the game + Grinding isn't as mandatory as most RPGs + The visuals are great, as are the major cutscenes - Some of the character designs are questionable - The means of gaining blades can get annoying - The models aren't always consistent - The visual quality for Handheld Mode isn't that great There are many issues with Xenoblade 2. But the fact that the game still shines in spite of those flaws is a testament to how great Xenoblade 2 is as a whole.

Probably my favorite JRPG. Like most JRPG combat systems this one can be confusing once you start but it does get easier to understand as you play a little more. Good story and good support from monolith soft.

    Great Game

I was a little tentative about the game because I am not a big RPG fan and the combat looked a little funky. After 10 hours into the game I fell in love with the story and as the game progressed I understood why the developers went down the road that they did. Within 20 hours you understand that the combat fits the game perfectly. The open world aspects are beautiful and the story doesn't hit any snags that pull you out of the story. It's a game that would be as enjoyable for a newcomer to the series as a seasoned veteran and it is an easily acceptable game. Monolith software did phenomenal and this is a game I would recommend to everyone I know.

The game is very fun. The world is beautiful with fantastic visuals and all sorts of neat looking zones. The lip syncing for the English voices is definitely quite a bit off, but not enough really to distract from how fun the game is. A lot of the stories for the rare blades are well done and interesting. I do miss the style of music from the two previous titles but the soundtrack is still fairly well done here. A few of the character designs are a bit much on the fan service, but again not a problem overall to me in the enjoyment of the game.

Imperfect Sequel; Wait for Xenoblade 1 Remaster

Big fan of the series since Xenoblade 1 on Wii...this game is enjoyable at times but falls short of greatness in a number of ways. PRO: Beautiful environments and music. Combat is faster-paced and more active than in many JRPGs. User interface is good and text is large enough to be easily read in portable mode (an issue in many other Switch games!) CON: Extremely complicated battle system, poorly explained. Having played the previous two XB games I am still scratching my head 25 hours into this one. Tutorials are brief and cost in-game money to view again. There are many more systems and mechanics than necessary, even for a JRPG. Map screen is unhelpful with some symbols unexplained. Voice acting is rough. Most characters have strange Welsh or Scottish accents which very few of the actors can pull off. Line delivery even among the main cast is usually awkward. In battles, the yelling gets so deafeningly loud that I turned them down the entire way. Luckily Japanese voice track is available from the eShop for free. Weird anime tropes. Your mileage may vary but I found certain elements of the story to be kind of gross. Main female protagonist is barely dressed and can't be given other outfits. Uncomfortable "ownership" dynamic between Driver and Blade characters. One main character is a pervy shut-in who builds himself a robotic sexy maid--played for "cute" laughs. If you're not moderately familiar with anime, the story and characters may seem very weird to you. I don't particularly like any of the main cast. Xenoblade 1 is getting a remaster on Switch next year and is superior to this in almost every way. Great, relatable characters, voice acting, and story. Combat system is engaging without requiring a PhD. I strongly recommend waiting for the remaster if you're looking to get into this series.

Solid gameplay, but you better love fanservice.

I loved the original Xenoblade, disliked Chronicles X greatly, and this one is perhaps even more disappointing than X because it has a great combat system and interesting story but it's all bogged down by extreme amounts of fanservice, terrible character designs for many of the blades, and a heavy reliance on typical anime tropes that to me are just far too much to take. I like and can enjoy tropes and some fanservice and have nothing against a game embracing ridiculous things, but XC2 is chock full of it to the point that the game feels tonally dissonant at times and it actively hindered my enjoyment of the game. It's difficult to have fun playing when I'm having a full-body cringe every 20 minutes because of some waifu bait design making me like I'm watching an ecchi scene or the appearance of an eye-roll inducing trope that's just lame and ridiculous. I like the idea of having guest designers make blade characters but a lot are just really over the top and unappealing. I wanted to like this game, but good lord was most of the good overshadowed by the bad. I really do enjoy my fair share of weird anime trash, but this is just too much even for me because the campy nonsense just doesn't seem to fit in the game. I will say I enjoyed the terrible European accents that seemed to change mid-sentence at times though, it's a staple in Xenoblade as far as I'm concerned and XC2 REALLY delivered.

    Disappointing

Graphics are PS3 level at times and certain textures look like they were taken from the Wii. The english dub is not properly synced to the characters lips so the immersion is completely broken in cutscenes. Sidequests are also incredibly tedious and boring. The combat is the best part but it can't save the rest of the game from being mediocre. Very disappointed considering this is the game I bought my Switch for, save your money.

The combat system is fine if it will launch. I found I was frequently dead before my characters would start fighting back. This is also one of those games where you frequently find your guys floating in mid-air for no reason.
