Easy Chemical Free Cleaning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This steam mop did a great job removing some tough stains on my kitchen tile. We had cleaned the floor with a regular mop last week, but it still felt and looked dirty. We own another steam mop that we seldom use, because it was hard work to get results – the spinning pads on this mop make steaming cleaning fast and easy. Pros - Easy to use and set up takes just a few minutes. Snap on the handle and cleaning pads, fill with distilled water, plug in and you are ready. You select a mode that fits your floor type (there is a chart in the instructions) and when you tilt the handle back the brushes start spinning. - Not heavy or cumbersome – stands up on its own. - After cleaning, floors feel clean and dry in just a few minutes. - No chemicals, no fragrance or sticky feeling. Less worry for me because I have pets and kids who play on the floor. - Includes 2 sets of cleaning pads. Cleaning pads are reusable and can be cleaned in the washing machine. - Led lights to help in low light areas. - Cord storage. Things to Consider - It needs a more aggressive cleaning pad option that would allow it to scrub grout lines better. - It is only designed to clean hard floors. There are no attachments or accessories beyond replacement pads. - Sanitizing requires following specific instructions and takes time. Per the instructions - You have to use the deep clean setting, let the mop get hot (3 minutes) and go very slowly (passing over each area 15 times). - After using you need a place to store it to let it cool down and dry out. - Distilled water is recommend and you don’t add anything else (no cleaners or vinegar). The deep clean setting worked great and produced a lot of steam, but required refilling the ~8oz reservoir often (2-3 times to clean a 10x15ft area). If you have a decent sized area to deep clean, I recommend that you have extra distilled water on hand.

Clean 800 sqf in 10 minutes? YES please!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark - Steam and Scrub All-in-One Scrubbing and Sanitizing Hard Floor Steam Mop S7001 - Cashmere Gold this is a very impressive hardwood steam mop. we live in a house with each floor size coming to about 800 square with cats and little humans that require constant cleaning and sanitizing after them in order to avoid any illness. this mop was very easy to setup! - open box - slap the pads to the bottom, they stick because of the velcro that is stuck to the bottom of the rotating discs. - use provided water filler and fill the mop with water. - start the machine using one of the 3 modes provided. - it takes about 30 seconds for steam to start and it never stops or needs breaks after. cleaning was fast and neat! - it is very easy to use and have a similar feeling to using a vacuum cleaner with a slight difference where you would feel a tiny resistance from the rotating disks. - after use you immediately notice the difference. - no mop drips, no need for buckets, and no need to squeeze a mop! this makes mopping the floors very easy for any age group! - my tiny humans took interest in it (lets see how long this lasts!) pros: - very easy to use - one fill lasts about 800 square feet. - the mop stands on its own when not in use which makes storage very easy. - the pads are machine washable, and you have 4 pads in the box, so if 2 are being washed, you always have 2 ready to be used. - this worked wonderfully on hardwood floors and tiles. - a HUGE ADVANTAGE: this seems to clean the sides or the walls where i have hardwood side skirts along the walls. this was a pain before. cons: NONE.

MIXED IMPRESSIONS OF PERFORMANCE
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a few thousand square feet of glazed ceramic tile in our home, therefore we hoped that the Shark Steam & Scrub, Scrubbing and Sanitizing Steam Mop Model S7001 would be a new, better method of keeping those floors clean and sanitary. We have other Shark products which perform well, thus we had high expectations for the Steam & Scrub mop. My initial impressions are somewhat mixed, and somewhat less than we had hoped for. The Shark Steam & Scrub Steam Mop requires very minimal assembly. Snap in the upper handle and it is ready for the attachment of the scrubbing pads, filling with distilled water and almost immediate use. The Model S7001 has a few upgraded features as compared to the more basic Model S7000. The Shark Steam & Scrub uses two microfiber scrubbing pads, and comes with a total of four pads. The pads are composed of Polyester and Nylon which washes clean very easily, and should also be reasonably durable. Replacement pads are also available. The Steam & Scrub also comes with a plastic cup which Shark refers to as a filling “flask”, which is uniquely shaped to accommodate the narrow lid of the water tank. The cup holds approximately 8 ounces of water, and the water tank on the Shark Steam & Scrub has a capacity of approximately 16 ounces. I found that when operated primarily in the “Normal” cleaning mode, 16 ounces of distilled water provided approximately 30 minutes of steam operation. Shark recommends using only distilled water, which is clearly intended to prevent the formation of mineral scale deposits which would occlude the steam producing components. Shark does not approve of using any other fluids or chemicals in the water tank, including vinegar. Since vinegar cannot be used, the Shark cannot be readily descaled if mineral deposits resultant from using tap water were to clog the internal components. The supplied microfiber scrubbing pads are easily attached to the bottom of the unit. They are a large 7-¼” diameter which gives the Shark Steam & Scrub a wide cleaning path. The scrubbing pads have an integral donut shaped plastic ring with teeth that align with slots in the drive spindles. The attachment of the scrubbing pads to the spindles is completed with four Velcro pads. Even with the integral alignment aid, the scrubbing pads do not center absolutely perfectly, which results in minor oscillation of the mop head while in operation. The Shark Steam & Scrub is equipped with a very long power cord of over 22 feet, which is very convenient in reducing the necessity to unplug and reconnect at other electrical receptacles. There is cord storage on the handle, but there are no provisions for storage of the scrubbing pads. The unit is very lightweight, and subject to tipping over if left upright and unattended with the power cord dangling. The Steam & Scrub is rated at 1120 watts, which means that it is drawing 9.3 amperes of current. Resultantly, the electrical resistance potential of the long power cord can result in the cord and plug feeling slightly warm; but not dangerously hot. Preparing the Steam & Scrub for use simply required filling the water tank with about 16 ounces of distilled water utilizing the provided filling flask, attaching two microfiber scrubbing pads to the spindles, plugging the unit in and cycling the single control button on the front of the unit to the desired cleaning mode. Tilting the handle back towards the operator activates the motor which drives the rotating scrubbing pads. The Model S7001 has three Cleaning Modes, as compared to the two modes of the Model S7000. The Cleaning Modes are “Light”, “Normal” and “Deep”. The Model S7001 is differentiated by the addition of the Deep cleaning mode that the S7000 lacks. Both the amount of steam generated and the rotational speed of the scrubbing pads are controlled by each of the Cleaning Modes, with “Deep” cleaning mode producing the most steam (and consuming water fastest) and using the highest scrubbing speed. The Steam & Scrub carton label claims that the scrubbing pads rotate at 150 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM), presumably at top speed in Deep cleaning mode. The S7001 is also differentiated by its mop head having two, four LED “headlights” which are very effective. Shark also makes the product claim that the Steam & Scrub “Steam Sanitizes 99.9% Bacteria Removal”. It is important to understand the steam sanitization capabilities and procedures in order to evaluate whether or not the Steam & Scrub will meet user needs and expectations. The following is excerpted directly from the Shark Steam & Scrub User Manual, and explains how sanitization may be accomplished in actual use: TO SANITIZE*: 1 Attach clean Dirt Grip® Soft Scrub Pads to the scrubbing mop head. 2 Plug in the unit, tilt the mop handle down, and press the mode button to select the DEEP setting. The pads will then start spinning. 3 Wait 30 seconds for the unit to begin producing steam. 4 Start mopping with a forward and backward motion on an appropriate sealed hard floor surface. After three minutes, your unit will be ready to sanitize. 5 Using a forward and backward motion, move the mop head slowly and evenly over the area to be sanitized while applying continuous downward pressure. Slowly repeat at least 15 times. * Sanitization studies were conducted under controlled test conditions. Household conditions and results may vary. With mop head in DEEP mode. If steam sanitization of the floors is what a user hopes to achieve, the Steam & Scrub must be operated in Deep cleaning mode, and the mop must be drawn back and forth over each 14-½” wide area a minimum of 15 times, before moving to the next patch of floor. Users must evaluate whether that procedure is practical or not for their cleaning regime, as it certainly exceeds how most users would probably utilize the mop. Once I set up the Steam & Scrub I began cleaning using the Normal cleaning mode, which is recommended for glazed ceramic tile floors. In about 30-45 seconds the unit started producing steam. However, there was a distinct, unpleasant odor produced along with the steam, possibly because the unit was new (however it was evidently steam tested at the factory based on the visible condensation on the inside of the transparent front of the water tank). Operating the Steam & Scrub effectively removed light dirt, but had no perceptible impact on any of the heavier dirt. For those dirtier tiles I advanced the cleaning mode to Deep cleaning, however the improvement was very modest, and still below my apparently unrealistic expectations. The cleaning efficiency of the Steam & Scrub might be enhanced by spraying floor cleaner / detergent on the floor in front of the Steam & Scrub thereby loosening and dissolving dirt with the floor cleaner which cannot be used in the water tank of the Steam & Scrub. That augmentation might also reduce the offensive odor of the steam mop, and replace it with the scent of the floor cleaner product. The Steam & Scrub left floors very wet, even when utilized only in Normal cleaning mode. Resultantly, if you don’t quickly follow-up with a towel to dry the floors, they will likely exhibit the mottled appearance of water stains in any reflected light, as ours did. The Shark Steam & Scrub steam mop does remove some dirt from floors, as is clearly depicted in the attached photograph comparing new and unused, clean scrubbing pads with the pads that were used to steam clean tile floors which are mopped on a regular basis. However, it is the cleaning efficiency and effectiveness of the Steam & Scrub which may, or may not meet user expectations. Does the Steam & Scrub clean floors faster, easier or better than conventional floor mopping? Is the slow and laborious sanitizing process which is specified in the User Manual actually practical when performing routine housecleaning? Is the amount of residual water deposited and remaining on the flooring problematic? In our estimation, although the Steam & Scrub has some capabilities, and may be quite satisfactory for some users and applications, we didn’t save any time or effort as compared to conventional mopping. Also, in our estimation the final results were not visibly better than mopping with floor cleaner. Additionally, we found that the Steam & Scrub left the tiles even wetter than a conventional mop. In all fairness, the foregoing impressions are initial impressions which might change with continued use of the Steam & Scrub. However, as of this juncture, we find it easier and faster to use a conventional mop, which leaves the floors at least as clean, and also leaves the air smelling better. A current user of a non-scrubbing steam mop might like the Steam & Scrub, since the rotating scrubbing pads are undoubtedly superior to steam alone. Regrettably, the Steam & Scrub failed to meet our, perhaps unrealistic, expectations and will probably not result in the conventional mop and bucket being consigned to history.

Outstanding Cleaning Power, Remarkable Handling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Shark Steam and Scrub Steam Mop offers outstanding cleaning power and a lightweight, easy to handle design. The steering and maneuverability are remarkable, and make cleaning my hard floors as easy as can be. The smooth handling, low-profile design allows me to reach tight spaces around the house with ease. It is perfect for scrubbing big or small areas around the house. Even though it is compact and lightweight, I was quite impressed with how effective it is at cleaning and sanitizing hard floors. The cleaning method it uses is a combination of steam and rotating heavy-duty cleaning pads. I really like that after it is used, all that remains is a very slight dampness that quickly dries, unlike a traditional mop. It features 3 cleaning levels: Light, Normal, and Deep. Included is a water filling flask, and I was surprised by how little water it takes to fill the reservoir, and how long it lasted with the water tank filled. I used it on the Normal setting, and was able to clean my Master Bath, Home Office, and Living Room one one and half tanks of water. The water reservoir is very easy to fill because it takes so little water and thankfully there is no dirty water reservoir to drain. It feels very well built and is exactly what I would expect at this price point. The cleaning pads are suitably heavy duty, and I expect them to last quite awhile. Shark has included 2 extra cleaning pads, for a total of four in the package. The cleaning pads are washable, but what I have been doing is hand washing them with dish detergent. It features bright LED lights that are useful for illuminating hard to see areas. Another great feature is the 22 foot long power cord that minimizes the amount of times that I have to change outlets.
