    Synopsis

The thrill and allure of the Skyrim series is that you get to choose who your character will become. Do you wish to uphold the powers of good? Then use your skills to battle evil. Care to switch it up and fight with the bad guys for a change? The freedom is yours. In a game where every choice you make affects the future outcome of the storyline, it's easy to become lost in this ethereal and transcendent land of lore. With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition, you have access to the iconic story of the original game, as well as the official Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn add-ons for an immersive experience you won't soon forget.

The storytelling and adventure of The Elder Scrolls comes to life in one comprehensive experience with this Legendary Edition that places additional weapons, armor, spells and shouts at your disposal. In Dawnguard you have the option of battling the Vampire Lord Harkon as a member of the ancient order to save the sun, or becoming a Vampire Lord yourself. Explore the vast island of Solstheim, off the coast of Morrowind, whose lands are littered with ash wastes and glacial valleys. As you become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons, you come closer to facing off against your deadliest adversary — the first Dragonborn. Create a home for your character that reflects your style — from a simple, single-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory and more. Hearthfire lets you purchase land and build from the ground up with tools, such as the drafting table and carpenter's workbench, that transform clay, stone and logs into structures and furnishings. You can even adopt children to bring the light of youth to your hearth. The Elder Scrolls gives you the chance to live another life in another world that has consequences and choices, just like this life on Earth. Except in Skyrim, you get the added perk of battling vampires and dragons to spice things up.

All my friends have been playing Skyrim since it came out, and talking about it all the time. Now I've gotten my own PS3 so I can play Skyrim too. Now I see what all the fuss was about! I'm normally not a big fan of "sandbox" games. I like my games to be more linear. But thanks to the strategy guide, calls to my friends and looking on Gamefaqs, I can generally figure out where to go next in Skyrim. I will say that if the game "clicks" with you, it's going to be a MAJOR suck on your time. I'm supposed to be getting ready for National Novel Writing Month and have done NOTHING for it so far. Yet in Skyrim I've killed 4-5 dragons, gotten a house, and adopted a child. Um... Writing is hard, okay?! Sheesh. If you get this game, try to get a friend into it too. My friends and I have the best phone conversations about Skyrim. One friend called me when she couldn't find her housecarl, and Lydia was somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. I called a friend when I contracted the vampire condition, and when a certain character turned into a freakin' werewolf. It really is more fun if you can share your experience with others. Don't be afraid to start at the lowest difficulty. That's where I'm at and I'm still having some decent challenges. Master Vampires, I'm looking at you. They quite literally SUCK. And if you get lost, use your map function. Last night I was lost in a dungeon, and if I hadn't used my map, I swear to God I would still be in there! Happy gaming! :-)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a great game, and this Legendary Edition makes it even better. Even without the expansions you get a ton of gameplay for the money -- the main questline barely scratches the surface of the content that's actually available. It's almost impossible to run out of things to do in this game, and even after hundreds of hours of play I still haven't gotten tired of questing and killing bandits, or building new characters and fighting in new ways. The Legendary Edition comes with all three Skyrim add-ons: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, which makes it an even better value for the money. There's significant additional content with each one, as well as some useful new mechanics to enable you to continue to level up indefinitely if you want to. The voice-acting in this game isn't really that great (honestly it sounds like the same six or seven people over and over again, and those don't always deliver their lines very well) and there are still a couple of quests that are a little buggy and the occasional graphics glitch, but overall it's an absolutely beautiful game. The forests and mountains and sky will take your breath away. The facial animations, not so much. Compared to the fun I've had playing this game, though, the flaws are very minor and don't really impact my enjoyment at all. The only thing I'd really caution you about is that Skyrim tends to be addictive! You'll find yourself wanting to play a LOT, and even go back and create new characters to experience a different playstyle. Be prepared to sink a lot of hours into this!

Skyrim is a great game on its own, but all of the DLC included in this version of it make it even better. The scenery is beautiful and there's so much to do you could easily play for hundreds of hours. There's dragons, magic, the undead, and enough quests to keep you busy for a very long time. If you are a console gamer who hasn't play Skyrim, just wait until October 28th, 2016 to get the version coming to PS4 or X-Box One. While I can't say for certain, it will most likely play a lot smoother and run better in general on those newer consoles. I didn't give this version of the game 5 stars because there are so many loading screens that it can take a long time to get anywhere when you're switching between indoor and outdoor locations. It's especially frustrating when trying to navigate your home. I'm hopeful the PS4 and X-Box One versions will fix this very frustrating aspect of the game.

I don't play a whole lot of games like Skyrim -- the first-person, open-world, quest-based games. I do play RPGs, but more along the JRPG style. I've tried Dragon Age and Kingdom of Amalur in the past, and have played tens of hours of those games, but I typically put those games down and walked away. With Skyrim, I've logged almost 100 hours without even meaning to. I've lost whole days. And it's been great. My wife, who is a gamer to the extent of playing Monopoly Streets, even started playing Skyrim and has logged 40 hours. To be concise, this game is fun, attractive, and appeals to a variety of players. The Legendary version does some more things than the regular version, including packaging all the DLCs and allowing skills to go "legendary", allowing you to level up forever, but the real value is in the game itself. A few knocks for the occasional bug or glitch, but nothing that would stop me from playing this or buying it again.

This is a great game. I had this on XBOX, and I made the switch to PS3 a few months ago to play some of their exclusive titles. I saw the legendary edition at Best Buy and grabbed it on sale. I expected to go through the DLC content, which I never got to experience, and I was floored at the difference between this version and the XBOX counterpart. The frame rate is horrible. It routinely falls into the single digits (or feels like it is anyway), and their are so many bugs. The save options in the menu randomly grey out and will not work, load times are ridiculous, etc. I'm not sure where Bethesda went wrong on this port, but it's substandard and in my opinion unplayable. For anyone interested: using an SSD in your PS3 will not fix the issue. I have a spare drive and tried it.

This is a must buy. If you haven't gotten this game yet, now is the time. It conveniently comes with every DLC (which you have to install separately) and all for $40! (now, anyway) That's $20 saved! I have only a few minor complaints but not big enough for you to not buy this awesome game. There's a few frame problems where it dips below 30fps, but not for long. Also, get into the habit of constantly saving your game. IF YOU WALK 100 MILES WITHOUT SAVING AND DIE, YOU WILL START ALL THE WAY FROM THE BEGINNING. It kind of stinks but adds a strategy to the game. It hasn;t froze on me once yet, I've been playing it for about a week now.

Overall, skyrim is a fantastic game. The customization that a person can do with any character, any race, etc. is awesome and makes every game feel different depending on your playstyle. The graphics and animations of the game are very good as well. The one thing I really didn't like so far is the amount of loading involved...every time you go in a house, load screen, leave a house, load screen, etc. takes forever in towns to go in all the places and talk to people who might have jobs for you to do. Otherwise great game and very addicting with tons of hours of playtime.

I'm only giving it three stars because of my first impressions. First, it's a great and solid game. But with mass comes a lot of volume and this game is thick. I walked in blindly having no knowledge of this franchise at all, so consider this the ultimate blindness. I feel like they just glossed over any form of tutorial for a complete newbie like myself. Eventually, through thousands of screw ups, I managed to get a decent (sub par, really) grasp of the game. However, I kept dying so many times that I just overall gave up and found it to be difficult to play.
