After much research, I decided to purchase this particular refrigerator. Like you, you may go through the next 100+ reviews and find that they are mixed -- so you wonder if this is the refrigerator for you. Let me state up front that most of these reviewers have NEVER READ THE MANUAL. Here, I will address the most common complaints: 1. Fingerprints on Stainless Steel: First and foremost almost everyone knows that this is going to happen with any make or model that has a Stainless Steel exterior - so this should come as an invalid complaint. Just clean with Stainless Steel cleaner and move on! 2. Water dripping - Read the manual where this is addressed: After installation, run 2 gallons of water through the system (about 3 cups at the time to minimize compressor heat) and this should eliminate dripping. If it continues, then the connection is not right. Also, manual clearly states to keep your cup under the dispenser for a full second. 3. The Ice Maker - Some have complained about a Crushed Ice/Cubed Ice mix -- again, addressed in the manual. One also needs to know that ice that is made in the first 24 hours should be discarded and that it takes a full 12 hours after installation for the first ice to appear. A couple of reviews complained that the ice is white and not clear (ridiculous - who cares?) -- again this is addressed in the manual. Lastly, about ice, it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to know to keep your cup under the dispenser until it's finished, or you will get ice on the floor. 4. Some claim their unit is quiet while others state noisy -- mine is very quiet. Noises that may come from inside (again, read your manual folks!#. To me, the only legitimate complaint would be scratches on the doors at the time of installation.
Several suggestions: 1. Go ahead and buy a water filter replacement now. 2. Purchase a Belkin Cube Surge Protector #less than $10# for your refrigerator. 3. I know it's hard to know upfront, but if you can move your shelves upward or downward #a nice feature of this refrig) at the time you are loading it, you'll be glad you did. -- I am very pleased with Best Buy's installation and they made the entire process from sale to delivery a pleasure. We bought this Samsung product because we have always trusted Samsung. Three days after getting the fridge strange stains started showing in the finish that looked like rust. WIthin a week the entire freezer door was covered with this brown spots. I submitted a claim to Samsung and have been fighting with them for more than three months. I followed all Samsung's cleaning recommendations including using WD40 but the spots are part of the finish and nthing removes it. The service center Samsung sent said that the finish was a factory defect but Samsung refuses to replace the doors claiming this was a cosmetic issue only. I noticed posts online that show Samsung was replacing these doors at one point even replacing some people's doors two or three times. Samsung knows they have an issue but have decieded not to replace any more doors. I plan to return this fridge back to Best Buy. It is a factory defect and Samsung is not taking any responsibility. I have attached a couple of pictures of the defective finish. Is anyone else having this issue?

The appearance of this Samsung is really nice . I like the features , how ever that night I thought I was in a war zone . I heard cracking , popping , pow ! I ran for cover , but shortly I decided to tip toe into the kitchen only to find out it was coming from my refrigerator ......sigh . I didn't know if someone was shooting or popping fireworks because I don't know the difference between the sounds . I called Samsung the next day to find out that's a characteristic of this model. About 6 months later the ice maker failed . A year later the twin fan was rubbing and causing it not to cool properly .
A year and a few months later this this is rusting on the out side I wiped it down like I normally and now it's rust coving the whole refrigerator . Now I don't have a ton of money but I really threw it In the trash when I made this purchase
With that said purchase at your own risk but I would stay clear of Samsung because the customer service is as poor as the products

We purchased this refrigerator a month ago. From the day it was installed there was a very loud noise and at the time this was the only problem with it. I called the Geek Squad and someone came out but he was not certified to fix the compressor which he thought was the problem. As it turns out, the Geek Squad had no other people certified to fix this problem so they had to outsource it to Platinum Factory Service. Since they would not take Best Buy's word that the compressor was broke, they had to come out and "diagnose' the problem. They came out, said it was the compressor and had to order the part. The third appointment was yesterday in which the guy from Platinum was at my house for over 3 hours. Long story short, he broke it worse than it was before. It stopped cooling, we had to unplug it, and throw away everything in the refrigerator . After being on the phone for over an hour with Best Buy and Samsung the answer that I received was that the service center was closed for the day and someone would call me tomorrow. It is quite upsetting that I purchased this brand new refrigerator with the warranty and that is the service that is given. My advice is to not purchase appliances from Best Buy. You will only get headaches with no answers and horrible customer service.

This fridge is a piece of garbage and leaks like a sieve. The through-the-door ice maker has been a problem since day 1. The fridge never gets as cold as what the thermostat reads (I have a thermometer in the fridge and freezer to monitor temps). The ice maker is inside the refrigerator compartment, which causes the ice to melt and leak into the fridge compartment, as well as leaking out the through-the-door ice chute. When you open the door you are greeted by water pouring from the ineffective drip tray all over the floor and running down the front of the fridge. We have contacted Samsung and had a repair technician out 4 times in the first year of ownership. The problem still is not fixed and Samsung states that we are outside of the one-year warranty on the product so they will not do anything more despite the fact that they never fixed the problem within the warranty period. They refuse to repair or replace this defective item.
The water that runs all over the "stainless steel" front panels leaves water stains all over the panels that don't ever seem to come clean. You should see the handprints that get left behind too.
Overall poor quality product and Samsung does not stand behind their products. No problems with the Best Buy - this just is a terribly manufactured product. Avoid this product!!

This fridge freezes up every few months and this is 2015 people! My old Kenmore is running strong in the garage and is 15 years old. There should be a recall on these units. Tons of videos of Youtube. Wasting food and hours of time. I will never buy a Samsung again. Countless service calls resulted in nothing but "use your hairdryer on it". What?? Really?? This was not an inexpensive unit and they should be held accountable.

Great Refrigerator So far

We've had this frig for two months. So far it is great. I spent several hours searching on-line, stores, and consumer reports. This refrigerator was the best value as far as looks, consumer reviews, features, and price that I found. It looks great, works great so far and has all the features that we were looking for. The quality/sturdiness of the shelves and drawers was much better than most of the other refrigerators we looked at in same price range. The cons are really not a big deal, except for the manual, it is really bad. I couldn't even figure out how to set the temperatures from the manual. I called Samsung customer service and they couldn't tell me either. It doesn't work the way they said. Finally I figured it out... and I'm a retired engineer. The ice maker started out a bit flakey... it stopped making ice twice and I had to turn it off and on to get it working... but lately it seems to be fine. Also, I had to remove one of the shelves to make enough room for taller stuff. My wife loves it... Overall, a very good refrigerator.

First and LAST Samsung appliance purchase

We have owned different brands of refridgerators over the years and can honestly say that this one, without question, is the worst ever!
The features that sold us were the convenient shelf adjustments, soft LED lighting, crisper drawers, long fresh food drawer with 3 different temp settings and the french door design with bottom freezer. We were also told of the great quality of the Samsung brand when it comes to refridgerators. It does have ample room for larger items in the top portion and seemed to be a good upgrade from our old side-by-side.
The delivery day came on Jan. 3, 2013 and the crew were kind and courteous. We noticed a plastic wheel was missing from the slide out drawer in the bottom freezer. We found the wheel in the street where the delivery crew was putting it together before bringing it inside. Anyone can make a mistake and we were not upset at all, especially since it hadn't been run over by any passing cars. The wheel went on with no problem.
After a day, we noticed a loud noise coming from the left rear of the unit which seemed to be the compressor. The noise continued to get louder over the next couple of days, lasting up to 5 minutes at a time. We called service to have someone come out to look at it. That's where our next surprise came from.
We live next to a large metropolitan area, but the closest service center is 92 miles away! That told us immediately that Samsung applianaces do not have any kind of maintenance support.
The noise continues to get louder. We decided that any appliance that has a major issue a day or two into ownership is not worth keeping around. We've traveled that road before with other products. So the fridge is going back and the service appointment will be cancelled.
The ice dispenser is very sluggish and won't give any ice until the lever has been activated for a few seconds.
Like I said before, absolutely the worst fridge ever! Huge disappointment from Samsung. This was our first attempt at a Samsung appliance and will definitely be our last!

Bought this fridge and had Best Buy deliver and install it. Only down side of the fridge at all is that the color of the fridge really shows dust! Very easy to adjust every shelf in it and has plenty of room.

My wife really wanted a French door 'fridge; I was ok with another side by side. Our old side by side ran all day and was really loud due to some poor repair work in the past, but it worked. I finally relented and got what she wanted. We got a great deal. With a Reward Zone coupon and the Texas Energy Star tax holiday, we walked out at less than very low sale sticker price which I've yet to see again.
After living with it for a few months, it's OK but no real improvement over the old fridge. Yes, it runs less and more effeciently, but not really that much quiter than our 13 year old side by side. It's bigger than the old (though one of the smallest French door models) and barely fits into our refrigerator space but doesn't really seem to hold as much as the old one, or at least not as organized. The freezer seems overly large. It holds a lot, but we use the refrigerator more and find that the organization is a bit lacking and stuff gets lost in the back of the 'fridge. When you open the freezer door you can feel all of the cold air fall out and then the freezer always has to kick on after you close it to replenish the cold air.
The ice maker isn't noisy except when it's dispening the disappointingly small cubes at a generally slow pace.
We liked the satin finish available on other Samsung models, but we had to settle for the stainless steel finish which really attracts and holds fingerprints and scratches very easily. And it took awhile to get used to that huge shiny thing in the kitchen.
One annoying fact is that you have to physically push the doors closed for them to close properly. The old fridge just took a small push and it would close itself.
Overall, it works as a fridge and freezer; no problems there. But I'm no French door fan, and now the wife isn't either.
