This oven offers enough room to cook an entire meal at once. Large trays and other cookware can be conveniently stored for quick access. Upper and lower elements produce even heat and great results. Enjoy the same cooking power as a traditional coil with an added safety feature that meets the UL858 Household Electric Ranges standard for safety.
Q: with the new sensors, will i be able to boil a pot of water to cook pasta or other dishes?
A: Hello... I came on this thread to see if I could change out the sensi-temp coils to regular ones. I own this stove and I HATE the sensi-temp feature. The heat is inconsistent, it takes much longer to boil water for pasta or rice. You can FORGET about searing anything! Not a steak, chicken breast, or piece of fish. Your food ends up just barely simmering until the burner decides to cut back on. I have all new cookware, so the button contacts the bottom of the pan. So far, my solution has been to turn on every burner and move the pan to a new burner to cook my food through. I understand you have a job to do Sue, but I'm just sharing my truthful experience.
Q: What type of self cleaning does this model have?
A: Hi Eve60- Thanks for considering GE® 30" Free-Standing Self-Clean Electric Range JB258DMBB! The self-clean oven is cleaned by heat, at temperatures above normal cooking temperatures. During the cleaning cycle the oven is heated to about 880 degrees Fahrenheit (471° C.). At this temperature, food soils inside the oven decompose, leaving behind a small amount of ash. The leftover ash is similar to cigarette ashes, and wipes out easily with a wet cloth. We suggest to view the Use and Care Manual for complete details: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-80838-1.PDF - Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. A: The sensi temp coils do heat up with nothing on them, I turned a burner to high and in a few minutes it turned red. I heard horror stories about these burners, but I have not had any problems cooking on them. I do use a good grade stainless steel cookware and cast iron pans. I like the new stove they heat and cook well. Have a Happy New Year.

Q: can i use my existing down draft system
A: Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. This style of range is not designed to be installed with a downdraft system. If you do want to use a vent system, an overhead vent or over-the-range microwave with venting capabilities would be your two options. All our best! Vikki@GEA
Q: Can this stove be hardwired?
A: undefined
Q: what is the max temperature when operating the oven (not self clean mode). 450 F or 500 F
A: Hey there, great question! All ranges and wall ovens have a temperature range from 170-550 degrees F. The regular cooking modes such as Bake only go to 450 degrees F, but you can get to higher temperatures when using the Broil feature. We hope this has been useful and we're wishing you the best! - Guy@GEA
