Q: I get the audio but not video when trying to use the DVD player. Why?

A: DVD can only be used when your car is parked and emergency brake is on. Cannot be used while driving.

Q: How does this unit receive map updates? Are they free?

A: You can download the map updates on a SD card from garmin to update the unit. Map updates do cost 69.99 if i recall correctly.

Q: Will this be compatible or be used the same as my Sync features?

A: It works perfectly with Ford's sync system. I had concerns too but it actually works better than sync does it's all on screen now. Tire pressure. climate control. all the gauges. outside temperature and probably stuff I haven't found yet is all on screen now. It's really nice!

Q: I have a 2015 Chevy Express 2500 with factory touchscreen radio with navigation, back up camera, Sirius XM radio. Will this radio support all of those options?

A: Yes it will support all of those plus provide you with an additional hook up for a front view camera as well. This Head Unit is amazing and will give you everything your looking for. If you want you can also order a remote control for it as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Q: Does the Garmin Map show speed limits?

A: Yes on most roads. some tertiary roads do not have speeds, but most others have speed limits displayed.

Q: if my vehicle currently has an active XM radio and account will this Unit be Plug and Play or do I need additional Hardware to use the XM features

A: If you have a separate receiver you're probably ok. You may need an adapter. If your receiver is integrated into your current radio, you'll need to buy a receiver. Do what I did and ask the installers at Best Buy. They can tell you exactly what you need.

A: Yes. Sync your phone to your stereo using the Bluetooth on your phone. You will be able to call and receive phone calls through your stereo

A: It does not. You should know In my experience using the navigation on this the unit randomly and without warning shut itself off or freezes. Definitely not a reliable source for navigation.

One of the best Kenwoods Double din
I was looking for one that was good with navigation Sirius XM and I couldn't be happier installed it in my 2016 Chevy Cruz 2nd Gen looks awesome

Love the unit but CarPlay has issues
I love the unit and would buy it again. The only complaint I have is that CarPlay loses connection to the phone intermittently. I love having CarPlay (it also has the equivalent for Android) and the navigation. The Kenwood/Garmin traffic feature is horrible but the Garmin navigation is great. Those are the basics, for a longer review, keep reading... I got this because I kept having to futz with my phone when doing music, messages and navigation and it was getting dangerous. I ordered the system from Best Buy online and also ordered the installation service at the same time. It asked me a bunch of questions about my car and what I wanted and suggested other parts I might want/need. There are several problems with ordering installation online. I would call and do it over the phone with the local installation guy at the store. First problem: The website can't tell you that your selected store does not have an installation department. It just tells you that there are no appointments available on the selected day. Second problem: It's hard to know the parts you actually need for the install when you're doing it online. When I got to my appointment, the guy asked if I had bought the faceplate kit. I didn't and they didn't have one in stock so I had to re-schedule for next week. The kit was $50 at best buy but the installation guy was nice and gave me the part number. I ordered it online for $25. I also needed a converter box and extra installation charge to make the steering wheel controls work. Best Buy had that and also had a decent price for it so I got that from them. The second appointment went smoothly but with the extra parts and install charges the install alone came close to $300 making the whole thing almost $1,000 out the door (still worth it...). Again, I love having the CarPlay. For those that don't know what it is: You connect your phone to the stereo with a USB cable (it also charges the phone) and certain apps on your phone show up on the stereo with a driver friendly user interface. Any apps that you don't need or would be too distracting while driving aren't included. You get (text) Messages, Music, Maps (anything that starts with an 'M' I guess...) Podcasts, Audiobooks, Phone & Pandora. You're not going to get things like Facebook, Mail or Google Maps. For text messages, it's all voice. Siri reads you the messages and asks you if you want to reply. You can only reply by voice. If you want to read the actual words, you'd need to look at the phone. Phone, Maps, Podcasts, etc all work much better than trying to use them directly on the phone. I haven't played with Pandora yet using CarPlay. You use the touch screen on the unit to control things both with CarPlay, Android Play and the unit itself. You can also use your steering wheel controls as long as you get a converter box (~$70 + $60 installation) installed. Siri is also there too. I can be driving along and press the voice button on my steering wheel and ask Siri "What's 100,000 divided by 14,000" and she'll tell me (I was wondering how many years it would take to reach 100K & I drive 14K a year). The problem I have with CarPlay is that it randomly disconnects. Usually it comes back after a minute of "rebooting" but there have been times where I manually need to disconnect and reconnect the cable to get it to work. I can't yet figure out if it's a cable problem or software problem. This is an issue with all sorts of CarPlay systems and I've read all sorts of reasons online. A newer cable has reduced it to about once a day. I'm thinking of having Best Buy re-do the USB cable. I actually like the Garmin nav better than Apple or Google maps for turn by turn. It shows you the speed limit and doesn't tell you to turn 3 times for each turn. The voice guidance just seems much more reasonable. I also like the display better. What sucks is the traffic. It's unusable. If it thinks there's traffic up ahead (there usually isn't) it will beep at you every 10 seconds. For example, I was doing my 10 minute drive to the gym on surface streets on a sunday morning with no guidance but the Garmin kept beeping and telling me there was traffic ahead. If I want guidance that takes traffic into account I use Apple Maps. Otherwise I'll use the Garmin. At least there are options. Private types beware: The Garmin does keep a log of your trips whether you're using the nav or not. It does let you clear the log but not individual trips. The unit also plays CDs, CDs with MP3s on them and will play DVDs on the screen. It wouldn't play a Blu-Ray I tried. I only tried it in my garage so I don't know if it turns off the DVD feature when you're moving. I think it does have the ability to connect to rear screens for kids and those will keep playing the video. You can also connect it to your backup camera or even get one installed while you're installing the unit. All in all I love having the thing. I just hope I can get the CarPlay disconnection issues resolved.

Nice looking in-dash gps
It has reasonable maps in Mexico along with the US maps. The english spoken street names for Mexican streets are a bit odd, but usable. I don't find the user interface to be intuitive, but there is plenty of help on the Internet. The reason I installed this radio is because it had both GPS and Bluetooth voice activated phone connection. The steering wheel controls on the Nissan in which the unit is installed do not work well for the bluetooth phone connection and the voice dialing is much worse than the factory installed radio. That is the major disappointment. Regarding my comment that I would not recommend this to a friend: I would recommend buying the factory installed unit. However, if that isn't an option, this is not a bad alternative. The other disappointment was that this radio seems reasonably priced, but after paying for the installation and the numerous cables and dash modules for installation, the price more than doubled.
