Now a days a lot of people have been working from home, video conferencing, or even video calling friends and family and now you can do it all from your monitor. The new Dell 24-inch Video conferencing monitor comes with a built-in HD webcam, Noise cancelling microphone, 5W speaker, and to top it all off it also has a built in 65w USB-C charger, that also delivers video, audio, and data, this monitor does it all. So, let’s go over the features, Pros and Cons on this new Dell monitor.
Setup – The setup of this monitor and like other Dell monitors is very simple and user friendly and no tools required. In the box you will get the monitor, the base, stand, power cord, and a USB-C cable. The monitor has a built-in VESA mounting screws in case you do not want to use the base and mount it on a mounting bracket. First you would need to attach the base to the stand, and then the stand just kind of slides right into the back of the monitor. The stand also has wire gromet built-in for a clean look. At this point you are pretty much good to go. Plug in the power cord and the USB-C cable to your desktop or laptop and get to work. The monitor can also be adjusted to meet your needs. You can adjust the stand to pivot, tilt and swivel in the direction of your choosing.
1 HDMI Port
1 USB-C Port
2 SS USB-A ports
1080p Display / 75 Hz refresh rate
Camera – Let’s start off with the main feature of this laptop and that would be the built-in camera. The monitor has a 5-megapixel IR pop up camera. The camera pops up with a gentle push and can be pushed closed when not in use. I am unsure if Dell is planning on coming up with another model for this, but it would be cool if the camera was automatic, where you can open and close the pop-up camera with a touch of a button. The quality of the camera, in my experience, is not bad but it’s not that great either. I have tested out other 5-megapixel cameras on brands and devices and the picture quality of those cameras was much better compared to Dell. The image quality on Dell video conferencing seemed a bit grainy but not terrible, but on a positive note I did like that fact that the camera mounted on top of the monitor provided a better and a wider angle then compared to a camera on your laptop.
Noise cancelling microphone - The built-in microphone on the monitor worked well, I had no complains there. The microphone was able to cancel out some of the background noise I had created to check if it would be able to cancel it out and it worked just fine.
5W Speaker – The speakers on the monitor serve their purpose well. If you are conducting a video call, you can clearly hear the person talking and it sounds just fine But, if you trying to pump some beats through them, they don’t really sound that great. You really can’t expect much from 5W speakers other then the purpose they were designed for, which they perform well.
USB-C Port – So, this was by far my favorite feature of this monitor. I loved the fact that I could just connect a single cable to the monitor and do it all. I was able to charge my laptop, transfer audio, and data all in a single provided USB-C cable. I am sure this feature probably is not new, but I had seen it for the first time on this monitor and just fell in love. I love that I can connect my laptop to my monitor and charge at the same time. Amazing!!!
Built-in Low Blue Light Screen – The built- in low blue light screen makes working all day long on a computer so much easier especially if you wear glasses like do. The light and the glare from staring at the monitor does not really make for a good day at work. I really liked how this monitor has that feature built in and its on all the time, so you don’t need to mess with the options to turn it on or off without sacrificing on the display quality.
USB-C – Multi-purpose port
Noise Cancelling Microphone
Speaker (Serve their purpose)
Built in blue light filter
Camera – Although its not terrible, but not a fan of the picture quality.
Manual pop out camera
Overall, I really like the idea of having everything built-in to the monitor to make my work life easier and this monitor has really done so and while clearing up so much wire clutter from my desk. I am now just using that single cable to connect my laptop to my monitor do what I need to do and if I need to do a video conference call, I can just pop the camera out and get that done. I really like the idea, design and the finish of this monitor and If you are in the market for something that can do it all for you as well, I would suggest giving this monitor a shot.

Nice, versatile monitor
Dell - 24" IPS LED FHD FreeSync Compatible Monitor (DisplayPort, HDMI, USB) – Silver
When you open the monitor’s well-padded box, you’ll find the stand in two parts, the monitor, a power cable and a USB-C connection cable. The multi-function USB-C connection provides video, audio and data, and charges your laptop., all at the same time, which means you don’t need an HDMI connection. So, with just that one cord, you'll have a lot less clutter. And the stand includes a slot to put your cable through for an even neater desktop appearance. There’s a single page setup sheet to help you get started and a link to the online User’s Guide, which you’ll want to download.
Once downloaded, the User’s Guide will show you how to use the controls to set up the monitor exactly the way you want it.
The monitor has a very versatile stand. You can adjust the monitor’s height for best viewing, and it tilts, swivels and pivots (it can even go completely vertical, if needed), so positioning this monitor to exactly where it’s most comfortable for your viewing preference shouldn’t be a problem.
There’s a hidden pop-up camera that helps guard your privacy when not in use. Its facial recognition feature can be used with Windows Hello for faster log on. There’s also a noise-cancelling microphone, and the included dual 5W speakers are crisp and clear. So, this monitor is all set for those ever-more-common virtual meetings and visits.
Dell certainly didn’t skimp on connections. There are HDMI, Display Port, USB-A, USB-C and Headphone Jack connections. The USB-A port can be used for charging your mobile phone or other devices.
Finally, it works with Windows, Android, Chrome, Linux and Mac.
So, if you’re looking for a versatile 24” monitor that includes an external camera and speakers, this could certainly be a good choice.

Great addition to my WFH setup
This monitor intrigued me because of the built in webcam and speakers. I work in sales and have been doing primarily video calls on Teams and Zoom with clients and staff. I have a great laptop but don't want to always have it open as it takes up desk space. This monitor allows me to keep my laptop hidden away while giving me a superior camera, microphone and speakers.
Setup of the monitor was really easy, Dell makes the best and easiest monitors to setup in my opinion. The stand easily attached to the monitor and is height adjustable, tilts and fully swivels. I tried this for awhile on it's own with my Dell plugged in via the included USB cable. I love having a monitor with a USB-c connection as I can have a really clean setup and charge the laptop through the monitor at the same time. The webcam pops up when you press down on it gently and can be hidden when not in use for privacy.
The camera is very different from the typical laptop camera, it has a much wider viewing angle which i like and I love having it higher up than a laptop would be. I wish the camera itself could be tilted without moving the entire monitor.
The sound is great and has echo cancelling technology on both the speaker and the mic which makes my video calls sound crystal clear on both ends. Streaming tv and movies look and sound great as well.
My only gripe is that I cannot daisy chain to another monitor via displayport, something that should be available with any USB-C monitor. Luckily, the monitor still works very well as a USB-C hub when connected to a dock which allows me to have to have dual monitors.
As usual, Dell does a great job with this monitor, I would expect nothing less from them.
