A: You are correct, the cable included with the portable power pack is not for an iphone, it is for an android device. To charge your iphone, you will need to use your own charging cable. You do however still need to use the provided short cable to recharge the power pack.
A: No, that is actually all that the VR viewer is. It is a very basic, introductory VR viewer, not meant for long term use. There is a slot to slide your phone into, and you can view any apps compatible with Google Cardboard, and a few others, but it is not meant to be anything high end like the Gear VR or Oculus.
