Only 2 wheels remain
Posted .Features
Quality2 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5We bought this dishwasher and loved it. It was the highest rated dishwasher available at the time of purchase. In less than a years time, about 8 months, a wheel fell off the bottom rack. About a month later we lost another wheel, then another, then another! In about three months 6 of the 8 wheels have fallen off the bottom rack. Now the bottom rack has to be lifted and guided or it falls off the track. It is run daily, we do not overload it as all pots, pans, and lids are hand washed so it's mostly plates and plastic bowls in the bottom rack. The problem is that it's all plastic. We have ordered 4 new sets but need to order another 4 to get us through the next year. It is very quiet but with most modern dishwashers, it takes forever to wash a load, it doesn't handle heavily soiled dishes, and it does not dry them if you do not open the door fast enough after its finished the cycle. The washing issues are due to Energy Star compliance.

Finish is HORRIBLE
Posted .After installation and warranty, I spent $1200 on this Kitchenaid Stainless dishwasher. Immediately, the stainless had problems. Despite promoting the "touchfree stainless" as a wonderful feature, it cannot be cleaned by any product. There are permanent streaks and drips that cannot be removed. Kitchenaid will not do anything under the 1-year warrantee. They hide behind the "30-day rule" for cosmetic issues. This is NOT A COSMETIC ISSUE, but rather a function of their poor quality. I have 18-year old stainless appliances that look as good as new, but the Kitchenaid looked horrendous after 2 weeks.

Buy the extended warranty
Posted .Features
Quality2 out of 5Value2 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Dishes, Dry cycle, QuietCons mentioned:PumpDishwasher functions fine, no real complaints about that. Nice and quiet and the dishes get nice and hot during the drying. Plastic items hold water, but no worse than any machine I’ve owned. However after 2.75 years of daily use, the circulation pump had gone out and the part plus labor will cost over $400. This is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. Even though I never purchase them, I would recommend buying the Best Buy extended warranty with this machine.

Good but not Great
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Cleaning, Dishes, Dry cycleCons mentioned:Noise, PumpI would recommend this to a friendAfter scouring the earth looking for the best dishwasher for a reasonable price, I settled on this model. Based on the specifications and price, it should have been incredible, but it falls just a hair short in several areas. Here's my summary: Pros: -Does a good job cleaning dishes -Is very quiet -Dries dishes well -Easy to operate -Display on the front is very handy Cons: -Takes 2.5 hours for a "normal" cycle with dry -Gets a soap scum layer on the door using even premium wash packs and rinse aid. I've found running the rinse aid on the highest setting helps. -The pump has gotten noisier over the first month of use. I couldn't even hear it when it was new, but now the pump makes some noticeable noise when operating at the start of each cycle...not loud but definitely noticeable, and definitely louder than the sound rating. -Manual suggests running the nearest faucet for hot water before starting the washer, so you waste 5 gallons of water so it can use 4 gallons to do a good job on the dishes. -Racks are hard to load soup bowls in. They tend to fall over nearly flat pretty much anywhere you put them. -Clearance on the lower rack is tight for large casserole pans even with the top rack all the way up. Forget about putting serving utensils in the main silverware basket as they hit the arm. -Top rack is not removeable. All in all, it's still a very good dishwasher. I'd buy it again, but it could still use some improvements.

You won't regret this purchase
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've had many Dishwashers through the years and I can honestly tell you this is the best of the best. They advertise quiet, and this is one time they mean it. I have an open floor plan and I don't even know it's running. I put it to the test with an aluminum meatloaf pan with some meat burnings, and I was shocked that it cleaned it perfectly. For the first time I proudly own a dishwasher that cleans on the first try. I've had it for about 4 weeks now and I haven't had to re-wash anything, not even by hand. You won't be disappointed in this purchase.

Another KA Winner
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5This replaced a 21 year old KA Superba (circuit board died). As it was 2 models old, it was heavily discounted. Good capacity and rack design, super quiet, and dries much better than the old one (even plastic!). Cycles take a bit longer but not too bad. The utensil holder is larger as well. I also like the exterior LED status indicator. My only issue was the Rinse Aid dispenser - initially it seemed not to fill to the point where you could see blue in the indicator. Excess leaked out and ran down the interior door. But after I ran a cycle, the indicator stayed fully blue and all is working fine now. A friend with the same mode had a similar experience. So it was more confusing than a true issue.

Love my KitchenAid Architect II Dishwasher
|Posted .Pros mentioned:CleaningIn my previous home I had all KitchenAid appliances. In moving to FL and buying a new build home, the builder's grade appliances did not cut it with me. Within one year I purchased an all new kitchen with KitchenAid appliances. This dishwasher holds so much more and cleans so much better than anything I have ever had. Thank you Pacific Kitchens and Best Buy.

Q: QuestionDoes not have a self cleaning filter? The specs on Consumer Reports says this model has a self cleaning filter but Best Buy specs says it does not. Can anyone answer this?
Asked by dawncav.
- A:Answer No, this is manual clean.
Answered by CommunityAnswer
Q: QuestionIs this model listed correctly as NOT being a tall tub? I've checked with other carriers and they have it listed as tall tub.
Asked by Shawn.
- A:Answer From my understanding it is a tall tub being 24 inches. It is the standard height for a built in dishwasher. We absolutely LOVE ours. Super quiet, cleans dishes and glasses sparkling clean! The best price is at Best Buy because they match the lowest price around. I did my homework so I know. It was very important to us to have a dishwasher that we did not have to bend down almost to the floor to clean out the filter. This one has a self cleaning filter. We are thrilled with our new dishwasher! Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionCan someone please list the cycle times for each cycle, especially the light wash cycle?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer There is a chart in the operating instructions that details this. We use only the light cycle. It works fine. Here is a summary: ProWash 120 min Tough 120 Normal 80 Light 80 Express 60 Rinse 16 There are other options, e.g., ProScrub and SaniRinse.

Q: Questionhow do you get rid of fingermarks on the SS finish?Am worried about purchasing due to the SS finish and everyone siteing the fingerprint problems. Any solutions?
Asked by walker.
- A:Answer Use Pledge. I'm not kidding; spray it on, rub it in with the grain, and buff it (also in the direction of the grain) until it is shiny. It resists fingerprints afterward, also.

Q: QuestionI want to buy the KitchenAid but I see two that are exactly the same price. KitchenAid - Architect Series II 24" Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub -KitchenAid KitchenAid -KitchenAid Any real difference? I only need it to be quiet, clean.
Asked by glmesa.
- A:Answer Model KDTM354DSS is the from the architect series and KDFE104DSS is a stainless steel dishwasher almost the same size, but it is a tall tub design. It operates at a slightly higher decibel level 46 as compared to 43.

Q: QuestionCan our matching cabinet cover that's on our old dishwasher be put on this one?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer this dishwasher is stainless steel, and architectural. It is designed to fit flush with the face of your cabinets. If you added a panel, the panel would stick out the depth of itself, so probably like 3/4 inch. I think since you are paying for the SS, either how it off, or choose a black or white model that will be cheaper, and mount your panel on that. Also a consideration, I haven't tried this new one yet, but I have a 13 year old architectural series dishwasher of the same door design, and the door is pretty darn heavy. They springs have been replaced TWICE. I wouldn't add anything to it.
