Is there a microphone/speech recognition? null

There is a built-in microphone. Video chats can be conducted using Google Hangouts. I'm not sure about speech recognition -- if you are referring to programs than convert the spoken word into a written product. Haven't had occasion to need that.

This Chromebook has a built-in microphone but does not ship with speech recognition software; that would be a separate download for an app.
