• You can download Word Online, Excel Online, Office Online, and other document programs of that nature from the Chrome Store. That's what I did. These online versions are truncated versions of Word, Excel, etc., as you may be accustomed to seeing them, but many of the features of the full-blown programs are never used anyway. I suspect the online versions will suffice for your daughter.

• Chromebooks do not support Microsoft Office since it has the Chrome operating system. However the Chromebook supports Google Docs which can be used to view and edit those documents. More information is posted at https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/3217755?hl=en.
