When you put the SD card in you actually lock it in. When removing you need to push in to have it come out.

it is hard to remove. I kept pushing it down & kind of pulled it out gently. that's the only down side to this,

You can eject it safely through the tablet, but be aware that once you do, any apps you installed on the SD card will not work on your tablet.

You can push the sd card down and it will unlatch and pop up enough to get ahold with a finger nail. Be sure to undock the card before you remove it to prevent corruption of the data.

Likely you push the card to get it in the slot, then push it again to eject it from the system.
