You surely can! I am using Show, Echo & Dot in the same room, but I plan to move Echo & Dot to another room, because Show takes care of the entire room nicely.

They both work together in the same room but you need to change the wake word on one of the two.

Actually you don't want them in the same room since both would respond to enquiry. We moved our Echo to a different room than the Show and have several Dots in different rooms. I can use the wake word and hear multiple units respond with attention tones but only the unit I'm closest to answers my request. They are autonomous units and you don't need one to use the other. However, with units in different rooms setup with the Drop In feature, if you limit it to household only, you can talk to someone in another room as you would on an intercom. It's actually pretty cool to use.

Yes they can be in the same room but you would want to change the wakeup name on one of them so they both would not answer.

They do not work "together"
You can put each device in a separate room or house and use as an intercom.

Just like the dot, you would not put one of each together
