• Yes if you have a computer, My mother doesnt have a smart phone, I connected Alexa to her home computer, everything works just fine but.....I have not figured out if its possible to video chat because there isnt a phone connected

• You need Wifi connection to connect. It's not a TV, so you can't "view" cable news. But it can tell you some news f you set it up.
