So trying to get this for parents who have wifi but no type of ipad/smartphone etc. Can we use our phone to set up for them and then it will continue to work to make calls to family with Alexa app set up null

The Echo Show 5 does not require the Alexa application to set it up. They will need an Amazon account to log into but that can be logged in on the main screen of the Show 5. Most of the settings are accessible on the device itself. Have a great day!
