you can use any recent smart phone (Android or Apple) made in the last 4 or 5 years. ALEXA is dependent on the APP you download from the PLAY or APP store for each devise.

Yes, it is definitely compatible with any smartphone. As far as music on your phone it can only play your iTunes library via Bluetooth connection and is not compatible with Apple Music. Hope this helps!
