Hello, sher! You can use Alexa through the Fire HD 8 tablet to make phone calls. Once you give Alexa access to your contacts, you can call through the device by just saying, "Alexa, call Aunt Sharon". You can also do video chats through Alexa enabled screened devices or through apps such as Skype or Zoom. You cannot add a SIM card to the device to use it as a phone, though.
