I initially bought two HomePods and tried them in stereo and they sounded amazing. However, after linking it to my Apple TV, I simply use my existing home theater sound system (Denon Receiver and Klipsch Speakers) when I really want to experience extreme quality sound.

This is the main reason I purchased 4: To set up as two stereo pairs to have as additional speakers with the two Apple TV 4k that I purchased a month prior. I have read in some forums where people say they were not meant for this purpose, and some have complained of sound lag. They were perfect and the sound is in sync with what I see on television. The only issue is that you do have to select them in the sound menu each time to wake you Apple TV of it has been in sleep mode. The sound is awesome, and to be honest for me they are almost worth the value based on the sound quality when watching shows/movies on Apple TV. I have them set up in areas opposite the TVs and the sound is truly like surround sound.
