YES, IF you plug a lighting charger cable into the lighting port on the adapter., instead of to your iPad (I would think Air or Air2), and the HDMI cable to the flat screen.
If you don't hook up a charging cable and use it it is going to go thru the battery quicker because it is not only on the screen, but it is powering the HDMI output also.

This does not act as a charging cord you can plug your charging cord into it and then plug it into your iPad and it will then charge your iPad. It allows you to use an hdmi cord and charging cord at the same time to stream shows on your tv..

Not by itself. It will accommodate a power cord and HDMI cord, so you can charge and use the HDMI (project) at the same time.
