• I haven’t used this with an iPad, nor a TV. I have used it with my iPhone and projector. For any picture to show (ie for the projector to project what the phone was playing) It did require the lightning power cord for the phone be plugged in to the lightning/HDMI unit for it to work. I’d assume the set up would be the same for a TV.

• It does not need an additional power source as long as your iPad has battery power remaining. It does have a port to charge via a standard cord
