• this will work to connect your iphone. Not your macbook pro. Your macbook pro does not have a lightning cable...look at the bottom of your iphone. That charging port is what it connects to. Your macbook pro does not have that port.

• I haven’t tried with my MacBook but as far as any TV with HDMI and iPhone my opinion is yes because my husband uses an older TV with HDMI hooked up to his iPhone X that came out same time as 8, and it works fine.

• Yes, this adapter will work. We have an iPhone 8 Plus and we use this adapter to watch Youtube TV on our tv. It should work on the Mac Book Pro as well. Pretty sure you won’t regret buying this adapter. It also charges your phone while using the adapter.
