“Lightning device will not charge my ipad I am using OEM Apple charger and connector. It also does not display video but i believe this has something to do with the charging issue.”

I had the same issue until I downloaded the latest update for my IPad and then it worked flawlessly.

Apple has changed the original cord to the cord that uses lighting and has recently changed to a usbc cord for charging and connecting. There are adapters that can convert the original cord to lightning or a lightning to usbc. If your iPad’s port is a usbc then you can simply get the hdmi to usbc adapter and an hdmi cord to go into your tv if your tv has hdmi ports hdmi ports. All of my iPads have lightning so I use the hdmi to lightning adapter. I have no problem with watching movies or doing anything I can do on my iPads/ iPhone on the tv screen with sound. One problem you can have is if you buy the adapter with only one lightning or usbc port you have to make sure your IPad is fully charged. There are adapters that have 1 hdmi port one lightning port and one usbc port. An adapter that can convert either the usbc to lighting or the lightning to usbc could be used to charge your device while you are using it with your tv.
