- Answer Otter box makes a great case for this with a very small elastic holder on the right side so the Apple Pencil can be kep with the iPad.

- Answer You can use the original Apple pencil. With the case closed on the iPad, the pencil will magnetically stick to the cover quite well. I use it with a soft case that holds the iPad, the cover and pencil all in one. works well.

QuestionIs it comfortable to type on for long periods of time (lengthy documents like a research paper)? I have fairly large hands and I worry it'll be too cramped and cause, well, hand cramps?

- Answer Yes, it is comfortable for long periods of use. I have large hands and often work on longer documents on my iPad Pro while I am traveling and am very glad that I got the Apple Smart Keyboard - I've tried other keyboards and they don't seem to work out great for long periods of use. This keyboard is very thin, doesn't add bulk to the iPad, and doesn't add strain when you use it.

- Answer It has a magnetics ports (for lack of a better word) on the keyboard that connects the keyboard to the iPad. The keyboard uses the iPads battery

- Answer Yes it is. It works perfectly with the iPad Air 3. My only complaint is that if you have to VPN, into a PC network the delete key doesn't work properly and I haven't attempted a work around for it. Hope this helps.

- Answer No, but the back will be exposed. I believe you can purchase a back cover only to go along with the keyboard for extra protection.
