Unfold the full-size Smart Keyboard when you need it, then fold it to create a durable and lightweight cover when you don't. No need for batteries or pairing. It's just as easy to use as it is to take with you.
Q: What happens after the 2 yr. battery life is up?
A: Where did you hear that it has a 2 year battery life? As far as I was aware it is powered by the iPad itself, which is very minimal anyway.
Q: Does this keyboard also serve as a case?
A: No. It only covers the screen when you are not using it.
A: I found it difficult to find a cover for the back of the iPad that was compatible with the keyboard. None that I found were similar to Otterbox.
Q: Can you use it while typing on your lap, or do you have to set it up on a table or desk?
A: You can try, but it is not as easy to use on my lap as the laptop.. I mainly use it to take notes in meetings, and we have tables. It is just easier to type notes than to try to use the work Windows Laptop that I have docked on my desk. It works very well for me.
A: Unfortunately no. The “smart connector” that connects the keyboard to the iPad (It doesn’t use Bluetooth) is only on a single side, limiting you to using the keyboard with the iPad in landscape mode only.
A: I have two of these keyboards, one on the 10.5 and one on the 12.9. Haven’t seen this issue.
A: No, when you fold the keyboard back behind the iPad all the keys are Inoperative by default. (They don’t work))
Q: Is there a case for the Pro that has a slot for the pencil?
A: Apple sells a Tech21 case that has a removable slot for the Apple Pencil as well as a cut-out for the Apple Smart Keyboard as well.
