• This cable is for use with internal drives that are not installed into a computer, so, not likely, unless your Barracuda drive has an SATA connector / port and is a 2.5 inch drive. (This cable claims that it only works with 2.5 inch drives.) All external drives that I have seen use a built in USB connection which is supplied with the drive. No other connection would be necessary.

• This adapter is designed for 2.5" drives like found in laptops. With that said, it may fit the 3.5" drive however, the manual says not to use it on 3.5" drives.

• If you have an extra usb port then I believe you can. The CD has software to copy an entire disk, so you won't need that. So you should be able to do what you want. I have not tried it of course.
