QuestionStatement: On the package for this product it says that allowable operating systems are Win XP, 7 or Vista. The Geek folks said that it may not work on Win 8.x or 10 systems. The package also says that the product can not be returned once opened.

Answer I have used it to transfer Windows 10 from mechanical drives to SSD drives on 3 different computers. I also used it to transfer Windows 7 on another laptop. Works great.

Answer This is only meant for laptop drives. I found out you need a Hard Drive dock for 2.5”/3.5” SATA drives. It has a AC plug because the USB alone doesn’t have enough power for a desktop drive.

Answer This cable and software is used to clone a hard drive. It doesn't care what version of windows you are using. It can clone your W7 hard drive or your W10 hard drive.

Answer As long as it is a 2.5 inch drive and has a SATA connection. I used it on my desktop to upgrade my HDD to an SSD.

Answer Yes, if the new drive is a 2.5" SSD or HDD. This cable just connects the new drive to a USB port and then you use the included software to duplicate the existing drive on to the new one. After the duplication, you shut down the computer, swap drives and power it back up.

Answer This can be used to clone 1 hard drive to another, HOWEVER, you will still need special software. If you are looking to just move your documents/pictures/bookmarks/ect to the tower already running an existing operating system, there are much easier ways than by cloning. Also keep in mind, the installed drivers on the laptop may not work on the tower. It is best to consult with a professional to ensure a successful transition.

Answer If the drive is not a 2.5" drive, then probably not. The cable specifically says "FOR USE WITH 2.5" NOTEBOOK DRIVES ONLY." When I try it with a 3.5" desktop drive on my Windows PC, the drive doesn't even spin up. You might have better luck copying your files from the Windows PC to your Mac over a network or with a USB drive.

Answer If I understand you correctly you want to do the following: * Remove existing 2.5" drive from computer * Install new large capacity drive into computer * Install OS from thumb drive to freshly installed large capacity drive * Transfer documents/photos/ect from old 2.5" drive to freshly installed drive using this cable... If what I said is true, then yes it should work, as long as the old drive was not a. Encrypted b. an unsupported file system (example: linux to ntfs) I hope this helps.

Answer Yes. It is exactly what you need . Just don't use the disk... the disk is there to make cloning easier.

Answer Simply plug your sata hard drive into the connector and then plug the USB side into any USB port on your new PC or laptop. Laptop should recognize the hard drive, you can search the hard drive to find the files and load them onto Your new computer.

Answer Yep you sure can, just connect both drives with USB to SATA cables, your PC will recognize them and then you can use the included software to clone one to the other... If you only have one USB 3.0 port, the speed will be bottlenecked by the non USB 3.0 transfer rate, but it will work ..

Answer No, you can just elect to run the clone software from the CD. If you do not have a CD drive on your PC you can pick up an external USB CD drive and run that way, no installation required.

Answer This cable is for use with internal drives that are not installed into a computer, so, not likely, unless your Barracuda drive has an SATA connector / port and is a 2.5 inch drive. (This cable claims that it only works with 2.5 inch drives.) All external drives that I have seen use a built in USB connection which is supplied with the drive. No other connection would be necessary.
