Yes, if the new drive is a 2.5" SSD or HDD. This cable just connects the new drive to a USB port and then you use the included software to duplicate the existing drive on to the new one. After the duplication, you shut down the computer, swap drives and power it back up.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No you can't. To use the Data transfer software you need to have the supplied USB to Sata adapter attached to the USB port. The Sata adapter only connects to a Laptop (2.5) hard drives only. The Sata adapter does NOT have the power to run a desktop (3.5) hard drive. I have copied desktop 3.5 hard drives to laptop 2.5 hard drives then installed the laptop drives into the desktops. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As stated this is for notebook/laptop hard drives. The reason it's different is because laptops used 2.5" (small hard drives) while desktops use much larger ones and the cable will not fit.
