No, you can just elect to run the clone software from the CD. If you do not have a CD drive on your PC you can pick up an external USB CD drive and run that way, no installation required.

I used software downloaded from my new drive's manufacturer to copy my old drive to my new drive. This cable is not intended to copy from one computer to another, but from a computer to an internal disk that is not yet installed into a computer. I used it for replacing a failing disk with a new disk. Also, the disk that the SATA interface plugs into must be a 2.5 inch disk. It claims that it does not work with 3.5 inch disks.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, you don’t need their software to use this. The PC will recognize the HDD/SSD right away. I never installed the software and I can assume it’s just utilities for formatting etc.
