Battery life can be extended by reducing the brightness of the display and reducing the amount of background applications that are running (I would only recommend the latter if you know what you're doing). De-fragmenting the hard drives should be automatically set to happen on a regular basis, but if not, I would recommend doing it once a month to three months depending on how much you use your computer. This will increase battery life because it works less to get the information you're trying to use. I would not recommend turning off the hdd because the two drives work in-tandem. The computer battery can be replaced. It comes with a 4 cell battery, however you can replace ti with an 8 call by purchasing it here: http://store.asus.com/us/item/201605AM250000039/A47376-ASUS+07G016HH1875+8-Cell+Battery+for+G53%2C+G73%2C+VX7 However, an 8 cell battery has the drawback of poking out the back of the computer and may get in the way of the 2-in-1 functionality (as a tablet or viewer).
