4 ports if you are asking about number of wired devices directly plugged into the router. As for wireless devices, modern routers usually support over 200 devices at once out of the box. Range on this model seems good, but range is always dependent on router location, building materials used in the home, home floorplan... This router supports Asus mesh, which means you can add additional Asus devices to create a larger network. For a medium sized home, this router will do the job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will easily handle more than 3 devices. My family has 2 cell phones, 2 laptops, 2 printers, 2 Amazon Echo devices, and a smart TV, with more devices occasionally connected. I have a 850up/850down sq ft rambler with basement built in 1972. It is in one corner of the main floor and covers all of that floor, but struggles to reach the opposite corner in the basement. Adding a mesh access point fixes that problem. The ASUS RT-AC1900P is a solid performer. I replaced a Netgear R7000 with this router because the Netgear had persistent firmware bugs.
