• You will also need a modem as this is only a router. Yes it works with Xfinity cable (personal experience).

• It is NOT a modem. It's a router/switch/wifi access point combination. You will need to connect a modem's connection from your ISP to this router's Ethernet RJ45 port. The separate modem whether you are allowed by Xfinity to purchase one or one that Xfinity provides, will connect to this router. So the router doesn't need to be compatible with Xfinity. If you are looking for a router/modem combo (I don't recommend) then speak with Xfinity for a compatible one.
