“Do you need to have a membership to use these or can you just download an app. I know the ring you download the app and you only have to pay if you want the extra stuff but otherwise it's free”

Membership required if you are looking to have video recoded and store for personal use. Will record daily activities but small clips and space limited. Their is a trial period to test services

Customers only purchase a subscription plan (or utilize Local Storage. which is free) when they want to record motion clips which they can later go back and review.
