Can I use the left one alone? null

Nope you can only use the right one alone since it is the one that has all the controls for the headphones (volume, answer or end a call, volume control). If you were to try using the left one alone and place the right inside the case, they will turn off.

you can use the right one, but you can not use the left one by itself

I’m not sure but I use the right one alone all the time. I think the right one is the master one and that’s why that it capable of doing that.
