“What version of bluetooth do these use? I presume its not 5.0 since the range is only 30 ft. If the version is 4.x, can they be upgraded to 5.0 through a firmware update? Thanks.”

The Bluetooth version for the SoundSport Free wireless headphones is 4.1 & offers up to 33 feet (10 m) in range. As for now, the current firmware available has no effect on this aspect of connecting the headphones wirelessly. We truly appreciate the feedback though, I'll definitely make sure that this idea considered by our technical engineering team. We'll keep you posted on that ! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.As of this date, they are still not updated to 5.0. I'm not sure if Bose has that in the works, or if it's even possible to upgrade without changing the hardware.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It did upgrade the Firmware. The only issue I have with these is that they don not last the 5 hours as claimed. Averages 3 to 3 1/2 hours. This is my second set.
