“Can I print just black if a color ink cartridges is out”

• The other answer claiming to be from Brother is a lie. I own this printer and am currently going through the frustration of not being able to print black and white because one of the color cartridges is out of ink. I just installed a brand new black cartridge and have my computer set to print black and white only but the printer refuses. No amount of clearing errors or restarting it makes it work. Complete BS.

• No. Even though everything states that you can, that is a lie. This printer WILL NOT allow you to print in black and white if you are out of any color cartridges. Even if you set it to print to greyscale or black and white only.
