The switch needs to be setup in the C by GE app. After that you can connect your C by GE account to Google Home and control it from the Home app or by voice.

You'll need the GE app for set up and you'll need to add the switch tothe Google Home app to work with Google Assistant. But once you have the switch installed and set up, you don't need to access the apps to use the product; it's now ready to be controlled by your voice using Google Assistant. You will need a compatible Google Assistant; Android phone, Google Home/Max/Mini/Hub or third-party Google Assistant device.

It does require to be set up using the C by GE app first then can be added to the Google Home app by connecting your C by GE account. It works with Google assistant but is not Made for Google like the C by GE bulbs.

It requires the GE app to be registered with the google home app. During my install, it took several attempts to get it to work. The switch worked manually and through the GE app, but google home wouldn’t recognize it.
