To answer your question you have to put the microphone in your mouth for you to hear yourself but I can hear my voice just fine without mic monitoring. I have heard people say there side volume is locked at 25% but it seems they just need to reinstall drivers for it.

It depends on the audio settings of whichever program you use. Generally, I don't hear myself; the headset is well insulated.

That'd be a OS/system dependent feature usually, what this does have is a sidetone feature.
