Thank you for this great question! Our bulbs are not rated for any enclosed fixtures, as far as being able to control them individually, yes through the Cync app they can be controlled individually. Not to get too techy, but each and every bulb is its own unique IP address on your home network (be aware that they all MUST be able to get their own address from your IP DHCP space) and can be individually addressed. Further, even 'fixtures' that are wired together must be virtually created in the app so that the 'group' can be addressed as a whole (think overhead light with 2+ bulbs). Regardless what groups a bulb may be in, they can still be addressed individually. An an example, my ceiling fan has 6 sockets in the living room. Normally, it's a normal overhead light called 'living room overhead' in my system and it's usually just white. But, it is composed of bulbs LROH1 thru LROH6 and they all work as one group. On Christmas morning, I told Alexa to make LROH1 red, LROH2 green, LROH3 red... You get the idea. The system has great flexibility, mostly limited by your own imagination. I wish the app had features like randomness of colors and brightness, and sync to music, but I'm hoping those will come in time. Another answer to your question may be that you can create new groups (think of your 16) regardless the wiring. You could create 4 groups of 4 if you wanted to, and they all work independently of each other. Just leave the light switch on and forget it even exists. That was one of the hardest parts for us. We don't touch light switches anymore. We do everything with Alexa and the Cync applet for Alexa from GE. When I started, I took a hard look at Philips Hue, but the cost benefit of going with Cync was just too great, especially with the sale prices at the time. If I had it to do all over again from scratch, I'd go with Cync again.
