No extra accessories needed. You can setup Motion or sounds detection from the app or by logging into the camera directly. If you have the app it will send you a push notification but I would recommend setting up email alerts to save on phone data usage. Sends several snapshots to your email once setup in about the same time it takes the app to notify you which is typically in seconds of the event.

You need nothing more than just connecting it to your internet and will send you an alert when motion or sound is detected depending on how you set it up.
