Q: Can the camera connect to my home internet wirelessly or MUST it be plugged into a router?
A: To set it up, you need to plug it into the router you will be using. Then, after set-up, you can move it anywhere within wifi range.
Q: Does the camera have a microphone? Can you hear audio live or recorded?
A: the camera has one way audio. you can hear what is in room with camera
A: No. There is no monthly charge to use the camera. You can use the mydlink website and set up your camera with a user friendly interface. However if you set it up using its IP address directly on your network, its a bit more technical but there are many more options. Either way its free.
Q: Can I view the camera from anywhere?
A: It works from outside even on LTE.
Q: Can you only see a live feed from the camera or does it have the option of storing surveillance?
A: This camera also includes the D-ViewCam software, which adds enhanced features and functionality that helps you create a full surveillance system for up to 32 cameras. With D-ViewCam, you can view multiple cameras at the same time, record video, and set up scheduled and triggered recordings.
A: According to the User Manual, downloadable from DLink.com, this camera can be monitored from a PC or Mac computer. Software installation is required. I hope this helps.
Q: Charge for video recording?
A: Thank you for your questions. Please note that you may download our D-ViewCam application, and with that application you can view multiple cameras at the same time, record video, and set up scheduled and triggered recordings and there is no service contract associated with the use of this application at all or you may choose to configure your camera to send snapshots and video clips to an FTP server of your choosing. Thank you for choosing D-Link.
Q: How many hours of footage can be recorded on one camera?
A: if you install the DVR software on a computer that is hooked up to the same Wi-Fi network the amount of time you can record is only limited by the size of the Drive you are recording to on your computer. I have 250 gig set aside for my four cameras and I can get about 5 days out of that amount of space recording 24/7. The software allows you to set a limit on how much space it uses so once it hits your threshold it starts overwriting the oldest video.
