love this camera works great

Its great over all a great investment we got it to check on our dogs while we were gone. the app for my android based cell worked right off the bat for some reason the java link for D-link on the my (windows 8 laptop) works only from the desktop icon, but when had problems I called tech support we did a remote link & he got it up & going.They were very helpful! We when to Chicago for a wedding 5 hours away no problem. I did have a $35 certificate so my cost was $65 but even at the $99 price its worth it. It also has motion detection & sound. I do have wifi but I have it hooked up with ethernet to make sure we had a constant connection.It does color & night vision that works great our room is pretty dark so it shows up on auto as night vision but its still a great picture if we had NOT gotten Infared the we would'nt be to see as well so do consider that if you room is does'nt get alot of natural light you can change between the 2 settings or have it on auto which we do & you can change the DPI , take still shots from your phone or pc-laptop. I included 2 photos nightvison & Color.asyou can see the IR photo is really clear the color not so much, not enough light can can also adjust the the lighting & zoom. So I hope this helps

Piece of mind while on vacation

It has a nice sound and movement detector. The movement via the app is okay, there is a delay between sliding on the touch screen and the camera moving. But you can preset viewing locations to make the cam will go exactly to where you want, a lot easier. The sound quality was surprisingly good, as well as the night vision. We had no issues with this camera.

Works good

A call to D-Link helped out in the configuration. Love the sound and motion notifications along with the My Dlink lite app. The HD version of this camera did not have the sound notification support for the app and I took it back ( DCS-5222L). Stay with the 5020L if you want the app to work correctly. The 5020 is lower resolution but has the sound notification that works with the app. (This is the most important thing to me if you are using it for a baby monitor). The app gives you instant notifications for both sound and motion and the 5222L camera only had motion detection for the My Dlink lite app. Both cameras will send sound and motion reports to your email but I wanted to use the app for the instant push notifications. Overall the camera so far is very good at its intended job as a baby monitor. Also in the pic the camera is used upside down but you can go into the advanced settings in image setup and Flip Image and also select Mirror image to correct the upside down video.

I use the camera for backyard wild animal photos

Great camera at a great price.

I like receiving pictures while I'm at work when motion or sound is detected.also very nice to move the camera and look around my house while I'm away from the house. I would recommend this to everyone.

The initial setup was not too bad, but I work in I.T. used the DHCP option. Was happy with the cameras and the mobile application. Until I reset my router to fix internet on my computer. All the cameras got new IP Addresses and had to reset up all the cameras to get them to work again. A week later I finally got a harddrive for the NVR tried hooking it up would not see the harddrive. Had to do a firmware update to fix this issue. Long story made short, you could not get to the firmware update without getting past this point in the setup. If I did not know how to find IP Address on my router so I could connect direct to NVR and do update would not if got it working. After getting it set up. My network got so slow nothing worked well not even browsing internet on my computer. Reset router again new IP Addresses. So sick of this, I set static IP addresses on everything. Soon network got so slow nothing worked well. I resetup just the NVR and this time did not add it as a device on dlink site. Been over a week and have had no issues with internet speed. Think it was flooded with traffic to DLINK Site. Only overall complaints are the IR Lights glow in the dark and stand out in the dark. So much for stealth mode. And the NVR RECORDS EVERYTHING not just motion. Going to kill the harddrive too soon. I don't have the DVR at DLink site set to monitor motion because I was getting a link sent from dlink that would not open on phone only computer, so I let the cameras detect motion and send email. I am saving to buy a couple outdoor dlink cameras and want one more for inside, I will buy more cameras, would not recommend NVR. Also note right out of the box one of the camera only half the IR Lights worked. Brought it back to best buy and the exchanged it for another with no issues. I bought this online to install over weekend, site said I could pick it up that night in store. Never got email it was ready to pick up, went to store anyhow . Only 2 in stock. I wanted just the two so I could get them installed over weekend, they would not let me get the two they had in stock and had to wait till the shipped ones made it to the store.. don't get why I could not pick up 2 and have one on back order...

Love love this camera

I have it set up to check in on my dog when I'm away to make sure the house is still standing. ha-ha You can check in via an app on your Phone and move the camera to see around the room. It has night vision. You can also hear the sound in the room but they can't hear you which is fine. It can be set up to record but I just use the live feed for now. It can also be set up to text you if there is motion or sound which is a nice security feature. It does use quite a bit of cell phone data which I assume most cameras like this would so watch out with your data plans if you don't have unlimited. When you first set this up with your wireless in your house it can be tricky but if you have some techy skills or someone in the family does you will be fine. Overall, this camera is awesome as it gives me piece of mind about my dog and home security.

So simple and so easy to use.

I use one to make sure the garage door is closed another to see my shop and area around the shop 3rd one i have set at family members house as inside security When people know others are watching they tend not to do stupid things so when i know someone is going to be there i dont need to be there i can watch from afar. Night vision is decent Only thing when you zoom in it gets blurry but for the price Its awesome Now when i am around the world i can see and hear whats up at home at my business and at my families house from my smartphone, iphone or computer.

Purchased 2, both work well, good value

The set-up was "medium" easy & I can view them both on my android phone. The pan & tilt is a nice feature. Had to "tweak" the motion settings quite a bit to prevent too many email alerts, but now I rarely get a false trigger. Works ok at night; however, I have it facing an outside bright security light so I'm not sure how well it would work at night without the outside light. Would recommend this camera if you're looking for a solid, entry level security camera. Would definitely recommend buying this camera at Best Buy because their return policy is so great if problems are encountered.

Great camera

I got it to download but couldn't get it to install on Windows 10. I kept getting a "Publisher not trusted" error. I tried another PC with Vista Home Premium, it installed, but it does not work correctly either. I tried D-Link tech support (which has a dedicated line for Best Buy customers) with not any answers. The camera itself is great and I can view from my iPhone just fine. Great resolution and color. Night vision is great also.

Superior Tech Support

I was having a problem trying to setup my DCS-5020-L to send photos when the camera detected motion. Clear instruction were sent to me under case # C66787733 however I still could not receive photos when motions was detected. I decided to call D-Link's support line (case # C6679690) and spoke to Don (ID 004239) and with her persistence found that the Google Gmail server is causing this problem; Don suggested I use a secondary email account that I had; It corrected all my problems. Don was a real pleasure to work with; hope all you associates are as pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful

Perfect for taking a peak in on things
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this camera for keeping an eye on my parents, they are older and at risk for falling and other issues, this camera has already paid for itself ten times over! Not only does it give you a sense of security, it also gives my parents a peace of mind known that they are not alone and are being watched, unfortunately my father has fallen twice in the time I bought this camera, it allowed me to see him on the floor and I was able to race home to help him up, if it wasn't for the camera who knows how long he would have been laying there. The picture is not perfect but more than good enough, I actually leave it in Night Vision mode and the picture is great, also the microphone is impressively good. You are able to rotate the camera via your smart phone or computer, it's a little slow but over all I have no complaints. Well worth the money, I went out and bought 2 more for the rest of the house, the smart phone app is very easy to use, set up was a little bit of a pain, I'd say 1 hour but again, not bad. Honestly the best thing I have bought in years and I buy a lot.

Great Camera

Pros: It does pan/tilt/zoom it switches automatically between day and night mode (yes it has nigh mode which works great), and lets you access it via a smartphone. You can also listen to what is going on, set alerts for motion or sound, and take pictures. Also, it comes with a great wall mount. Cons: It will not record video like other cameras do. It does not have 2 way talk so you can listen to what is going on but can not speak.

Good Camera EXCELLENT Service

If it wasn't for her I was going to return the camera as well as the other one I bought. I suggest DLink put their customer service number on the box and spare people the frustration for what turns out to be a pretty good product. The camera appears to do what it is supposed to do, now that it has been installed properly with the help of a calm, concerned, patient, professional and absolutely helpful customer service person Ms Aiko! She helped me through computer frustration with my mac and we finally switched to my PC and everything worked. Her patience was a lesson to me. I have a low tolerance for setting up computer devices and try to practice being calm. Her attitude was superb.6 Stars for Aiko!!

After set up issues, it worked great

It may have been due to issues or settings with my internet EXPLORER which I've had other hook up issues. After trying for almost an hour, I called DLink customer service and they got me working even though it took almost another hour on the phone. It was something related to Explorer. I plan to buy another camera now that I this one working.

Decent quality PTZ camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A friend of mine bought one of these to set up outside their vacation condo front door to keep an eye on the place and showed me the features of the camera. I liked what I saw and Best Buy had a great price so I purchased two for my own place. The camera is not tiny, about the size of a large coffee cup but it has Pan-Tilt-Zoom features so that's where the 'bulk' comes from. It has a power cable that is about 8 feet in length so plan ahead if you don't have an outlet very close to the camera. I read some other reviews about problematic setup and I ran into some similar issues. I would recommend plugging the camera via an Ethernet cable into the same router your PC is plugged into in order to have a more reliable setup. Once it's all configured though, it is easy to access and maintain. Some of the better features are the PTZ, which allows a pretty good swing to be able to see a large area. I am not sure how much of a rotation it has, I think it's close to 180 degrees. It has about a 30 degree tilt up and down from on-center so between those two features, you can see a good bit of the room/area the camera is mounted in. It comes with a mounting bracket that you can secure to a wall or ceiling and a center screw that fastens into the base so you can put the camera virtually anywhere. The only thing I wasn't completely thrilled about was the picture quality. It runs 480P so it's not exactly high definition. It does pick up motion without too much lagging though. I usually run it in Night Mode as it seems to give a clearer picture. The app for phones is pretty limited, with only the ability to switch back and forth to Day/Night mode, PTZ functions and you can take a picture. My tablet app has a few extra features to it and the PC version allows you to also change the brightness/aperture of the lens. You can change the motion/sound detection settings from all the apps. Another great feature of the camera/app is that you can select 'zones' to detect motion and also raise or lower the sound level in dB for detection. For instance, I have my camera pointed at my front door and have the motion zone near the top of the door, while I blocked out the bottom part so my pets don't trip the detection. For the price, it's a good camera to have just to keep an eye on your pets or home. You can take pictures from all the apps but you have to subscribe to the DVR service with Dlink, which is about $10/month.

Perfect Camera for my needs

I have several people visit my home each week and this allows me to monitor it remotely. Later on I can add cameras and monitor all of them. I was able to get it set up fairly easy but needed support on a couple of the small settings for sending snapshots to my email. Marvin, Badge number AR004612 helped me in minutes and was awesome. the night vision by the way is fantastic. I can make out faces perfectly in pitch black.

Okay with wifi

Had a little trouble with the initial set up but like the feature to be able to view for multiple devises. No "record to sd" feature. Good for basic monitoring.

Good for entry level security in your home

Much cheaper than property manager- Sadly it wasn't a quick setup as the code needed for set up was not readily available in directions. Camera is sensitive and you will have to adjust for this or it will turn on when a car drives by outside. It works for what we need it for.
