• My installer originally had the dash cam hooked up so it was “on” continually but somehow in the process the DC power port (AKA “cigarette lighter”) was disabled. When I took it back to fix the issue the dash cam is now only powered up when the car is running. Which is OK by me. I would guess that it could be hooked up either way.
