how to expand for win 10 update windows is asking to update but theres not enough memory. Even an external flash says needs more C drive memory. This seems like it cant keep up with even the current OS which makes it obsolete and essentially a paperweight

I had to reinstall the OS. Win10 has the ability to install programs to the SD drive (or an external USB drive) - in Settings/System/Storage . But the OS that was installed on MY laptop didn't have that capability because it was an early version of Win10. To update I had to reinstall the OS using the MS Media Creation Tool - v.easy. That updated Win10 to allow the add'l drive D: and everything was bright & sunny.

Totally agree with you, i got this for my grandson as a starter laptop..its not any good when the updates cant be done. I am going to take it back to Best Buy to see what if anything they can do.

True, this is not the machine to buy for Windows 10. It's still a good
machine but just cannot handle the newest Windows edition.

Unfortunately, I had to delete the whole hdd and reinstall windows to update it.

You are right about it being a paperweight. I got around that trouble by using a 32 gig thumb drive before I figured out I had wasted good money on a machine that is best used as a word processor. See if they will credit you for an upgrade machine. Do it soon!

try and move as much to external drive or onedrive as possible. Worst case do a restore to original windows 10 and perform all updates.
