Check the jack pack (inputs) on the back of both units. This was the main difference for me. The 1400 just has hdmi, the 930 has a full compliment of audio video inputs not just hdmi. That was the deciding factor for me.

The 1400x has additional audio processing capabilities for more control over listening parameters. In my case, the 930h made more sense, but the step up audyssey and sound processing options in the 1400x would be better for audiophiles. ....the 930x is no slouch for music. I was thrilled (and very surprised) by how much better my existing speakers sounded. Speakers seem to last a lot longer than receivers (which is counterintuitive).
