Yes if it is picking up a lot of dust. I would keep emptying the chamber for most effective

Our Dyson Ball Animal does require maintenance, cleaning the brush bar of access debris and washing the filters. If the unit is properly maintained blockages are rare. Additionally, Dyson's have a safety feature, if the unit cannot get air flow through it, then it will shut itself down for about 2 hours. This is so the unit does not overheat. Once blockage is removed cleaning may resume.
