It is supposed to run immediately after pushing the auto button if the battery is charged. As for the running time, it cannot automatically stop, it will continuously clean the place where it could reach until running out the battery.

In either case, it runs until the battery gets low then goes and recharges. On standard vac mode you get around 4 hrs of cleaning. On max vac mode it's closer to 2.5.
