I don't have a wood stove or deal with wood chips, but I can tell you that my son's small legos are getting in it all the time. Sometimes they plug it up and sometimes it just sucks them up

If you want it to avoid the wood stove area, you can create virtual boundaries using the ecovacs app that would keep the vacuum away from unwanted areas. The boundaries can be boxes or lines and you can adjust them however you want and can be either "no mop" boundaries to keep it from mopping an area or a boundary to keep it away all together. I set up line boundaries to keep it out of rooms and a box boundary to keep it off my living room rug (not because it gets stuck, but because it's wool and fills up the vac fast and gets fibers caught in the brushes). In the attached photo, the orange box is a no mop area and the red lines are keep away areas. It detects carpet automatically, but I set these up to be extra cautious. It didn't get stuck in small rugs at entryways, but I prefer to keep it away just in case
